Where is the love?

I honestly tell after joining TOL, even I came to know the word "Truthsmacking", now i see how really it works.

We need more threads about love on TOL.

Where is the love people?
The love is in heaven, since God is love. And since God is love, and there are a lot of threads about God on TOL, I'd have to say we have a lot of threads about love on TOL.

Still more of God would be good. Can't have too much of that.

Define Love

I know you are longing for true love.

John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son,
that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have
everlasting life.

Romans 5:8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were
yet sinners, Christ died for us.

Romans 5:5 And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed
abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.

This grand passage of Scripture reminds us of the ABC's of love.

A = I ACCEPT you just the way you are.

B = I BELIEVE you are valuable.

C = I CARE when you hurt.

D = I DESIRE what is best for you.

E = I EASE the burdens you carry.

F= I FORGIVE you of all offenses.

Gary Smalley and John Trent tell a true story in their book The Blessing.

During the first day of an introductory speech class, the teacher was going around the room, having the students introduce themselves. Each student was to respond to the questions "What do I like about myself?" and "What don't I like about myself?"

Nearly hiding at the back of the room was Dorothy. Her long, red hair hung down around her face, almost obscuring it from view. When it was Dorothy's turn to introduce herself, there was only silence in the room. Thinking perhaps she had not heard the question, the teacher moved his chair over near hers and gently repeated the question. Again, there was only silence.

Finally, with a deep sigh, Dorothy sat up in her chair, pulled back her hair, and in the process revealed her face. Covering nearly all of one side of her face was a large, irregularly shaped birthmark––nearly as red as her hair. "That," she said, "should show you what I don't like about myself."

Moved with compassion, this godly professor leaned over and gave her a hug. Then he kissed her on her cheek where the birthmark was and said, "That OK, Honey, God and I still think you're beautiful."

Dorothy cried uncontrollably for almost twenty minutes . . . . When she finally could talk, as she dabbed the tears from her eyes she said to the professor, "I've wanted so much for someone to hug me and say what you said. Why couldn't my parents do that? My mother won't even touch my face."

God's love poured out in our hearts: Romans 5:1-5

God's love poured out in our hearts: Romans 5:1-5

One of my favorite sections of Scripture on the love of God
is found in Romans 5.

Beginning in verse #1, Paul says:

1 Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God
through our Lord Jesus Christ,

Now this verse comes on the heels of Paul explaining the nature of the
great promise found in having faith. We are justified by faith in the Lord
Jesus Christ, and because we are justified by faith in the Lord Jesus Christ,
we have peace with God through the same Lord, the Lord Jesus.
Now stop and think for a moment about the opposite of peace.
What is it? It is war. I know, I know,
"this is a thread on love Pastor Kevin", why talk about war?
Because it is important to understand that
before we have been justified by faith in Jesus Christ we are at odds
with God. In other words, in our relationship with God we are
experiencing the opposite of peace!

A few more thoughts on this: without the Lord Jesus Christ, there is no
real and lasting peace.
All of this running around looking for "peace" and
"love" cannot be found outside of a relationship with the Lord. You
won't find it in people. You won't find it in substances. You
won't find it in a website (not even TOL)! You won't find it in Buddha.
You won't find it in Krishna. You find it in the Lord!
True peace. Lasting peace. Lasting love.

Then in verse #2, Paul says:

2 through whom also we have access by faith into this grace in
which we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.

This is why it is so important that we preach the Gospel rightly, and inform
people of the wonderful love of God found in the Lord Jesus Christ.
Because without faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, there is a blinking
"no access" sign between the individual and God. To have access
basically means "to approach". Believers in Jesus Christ have been
allowed access to stand before a holy and righteous God!
By faith we have access into this grace in which we stand!

And it is by faith that we rejoice in hope and in the glory of God!
To rejoice is to loudly boast or proclaim. Believers in Jesus Christ
can loudly boast and proclaim.....what???? About hope.
What hope? The hope of the glory of God!
The word "hope" can also mean having an earnest expectation.
As believers we have an earnest expectation, a great longing for the
glory of God!

Verses 3-4:

3 And not only that, but we also glory in tribulations, knowing
that tribulation produces perseverance; 4 and perseverance, character;
and character, hope.

Here is one of the great differences between the Christian faith and
the others you find out there in the world:

We not only rejoice in the hope of the glory of God, but we also glory
in tribulations! The word "glory" in verse #3 is the exact same Greek
word that we see in verse 2 that is translated rejoice. It has the same
meaning in essence. To loudly proclaim and to rejoice in our troubles
and tribulations. Why would we do that, you might ask? Because
we know the endgame! We know what's going to happen in the end.
We know that God is coming back in power and glory, and that any troubles
we endure in this life are temporary. And we can rejoice NOW in
those tribulations because we know that they produce things in us that
we need!

We need perseverance, which is really to endure or to have patience.
We need to learn to endure. To stick it out to the end! Too many
people make a profession of faith in Christ for the wrong reasons, and
when the going gets tough, they stop going. They give up on God!
We need to allow the trials in our life to produce perseverance. And when
we develop perseverance and learn to endure, what happens?
That perseverance produces character! Character is a
word that indicates that a believer is maturing in his walk with God.
It is a word meaning one has been tested and is experienced.
Patience will produce that in our lives as Christians! And then
ultimately character produces hope!
When you learn to be patient in trials, you will grow into maturity and fully
and completely understand that great hope in the Glory of God!

What about love? This is a thread on love!

Ah we come to the "heart" of the matter. Verse #5:

5 Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has
been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us
.

The Apostle is writing this over 2,000 years ago, and yet we in the Body
of Christ today can still be strengthened and encouraged by it! This
is yet another proof of the wonderful and glorious inspiration of the
Scriptures.
God Himself authored this book, and handed it down to us over
the ages. And we have it now. Hope does NOT disappoint!

If you are a believer and you are experiencing disappointment in
your life TAKE HEART! That disappointment will not last forever!
God will not disappoint! The great day is coming when we will
have every tear wiped from our eyes. The great day is coming when
sin and wickedness will be judged and put away for all eternity!
The glory of God will NEVER disappoint! We can bank on it!

The confidence:

How can we be so confident in that hope? How can we know
for sure that we won't be disappointed? Oh this is so exciting
that I am ready to jump out of my chair brothers and sisters. I cannot
type it fast enough to convey it!

We can be confident in that hope "because the love of God has
been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us".

Take a moment. Let that sink in. Let it seep through your entire
body from the top of your head to the bottom of your toes.
We have the assurance of that great hope being realized by
the very presence of GOD HIMSELF in our lives
!

The very second that a man or a woman puts their faith and trust in
Jesus Christ, they receive the great and glorious gift of the Holy Spirit
of God! There is nothing that compares! Nothing! Atheists
and evolutionists cannot reproduce it.False believers cannot fully
understand
or comprehend it! That great and glorious
love of God that fills the heart of a believer in Jesus Christ!

And notice the text. You will see the Holy Spirit was GIVEN to us. That
is right, He is a gift of God!

I don't know where you are today in your walk with God. I don't
know what you are going through. But I do know this: You can
find some blessing and encouragement from Romans Chapter 5:1-5

Love ,climax of .A colored soldier said a religious meeting ,''I Love my Saviour I Love the church of Christ ,I Love the world , I Love everybody ,I Love them that don't love me''.

Love, Demonstration of. The threesons of an eastern queen tried to show their love of their mother , by gifts laid upon her grave .The spectators most appalauded one, who made a libation of his own blood .the offering of a few drops in honour of his mother was counted a great virtue ; but christ poured out his blood for his enemies.
