"There are two kinds of people in the world: Those who listen to Luther Vandross during/after a date, and those who have bad dates."

From "Real Gone". Arguably his weakest album, but this is a great song. Fantastic guitar, originally played by Marc Ribot.

Fantastic lyrics as usual:

"Well we stick our fingers in
The ground, and we heave and
turn the world around.
Smoke is blacking out the sun.
At night I pray and clean my gun
The cracked bell rings as
the ghost bird sings and the gods
go begging here.
So just open fire
when you hit the shore
All is fair in love
And war

Hoist that rag
"

This is a long one because, well, let's face it, there's nothing going on in any of the other threads these days …

CLASSIC: John Lee Hooker, Carlos Santana, and Etta James.

I saw John Lee Hooker at the Checkerboard Lounge in Chicago a couple of times, and let me say, that guy had BIG MOJO on stage! He could mesmerize the room, like some sort of voodoo witch doctor.
