Is Jesus God?

Beloved, now we are children of God and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is. (1 John 3:2 NKJV)

We are one flesh with our Brother.

It is written, "There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves punishment, and the one who fears is not perfected in love."
Then there are those who insist on clinging to the fears of ancient people and maintain that only by "fearing" some sort of "jealous God" can we hope to do his bidding!

This comes from the elements of the ancient patriarchal, authoritarian, obedience-based model of the family in biblical times. This is why most traditional Christians advocate hitting their children and insisting they do things "because Daddy says so."

This way of parenting leads to scapegoating, revenge and cruelty and violence against others. Raising children under this outmoded and dangerous method merely insures that we will continue to have wars and genocide.

Odd how some people see anger where no exists. :chew:

That comes from our innate defensiveness. If you grow up in an authoritarian, obedience-based family, you become used to "walking on eggshells" and staying alert to any change in your parent's behavior.

We expect to be "corrected" and "punished" so we tend to see emotions in others and assume they are "out to 'get' us" as our parents once did.

Our own parents teach us to be afraid of others.

It is written, "The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom; A good understanding have all those who do His commandments; His praise endures forever."

I think it comes from misunderstanding the will of our Father in heaven, our identity and what our purpose is.
