At this point, one of the few things I know about Orthodox Jews in the time of Jesus, is they refused to accept Jesus as the Messiah and his Father as their God. The Jews at one time were God’s chosen people. They eventually decided that they could do a better job of deciding what was best for themselves. This caused Jehovah to disown them for good.

There are things yet for you to learn.
I don't believe there were Orthodox Jews then. We may learn differently in the future.
Yes, the Jews are God's Chosen People. God has not rejected them.
Deuteronomy 7:6 NASB - "For you are a holy people to the LORD your God; the LORD your God has chosen you to be a people for His own possession out of all the peoples who are on the face of the earth.
Deuteronomy 14:2 NASB - "For you are a holy people to the LORD your God, and the LORD has chosen you to be a people for His own possession out of all the peoples who are on the face of the earth.
Luke 1:68 NASB - "Blessed [be] the Lord God of Israel, For He has visited us and accomplished redemption for His people,
Luke 7:16 NASB - Fear gripped them all, and they [began] glorifying God, saying, "A great prophet has arisen among us!" and, "God has visited His people!"
Romans 11:1 NASB - I say then, God has not rejected His people, has He? May it never be! For I too am an Israelite, a descendant of Abraham, of the tribe of Benjamin.
Romans 11:2 NASB - God has not rejected His people whom He foreknew. Or do you not know what the Scripture says in [the passage about] Elijah, how he pleads with God against Israel?
Here are a couple more good verses that may help.
Hebrews 2:17 NASB - Therefore, He had to be made like His brethren in all things, so that He might become a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make propitiation for the sins of the people.
Revelation 21:3 NASB - And I heard a loud voice from the throne, saying, "Behold, the tabernacle of God is among men, and He will dwell among them, and they shall be His people, and God Himself will be among them,
About the Law you might be pleased to see the following.
Galatians 2:21 NASB - "I do not nullify the grace of God, for if righteousness [comes] through the Law, then Christ died needlessly."
The truth is for both Jewish and Gentile.
Acts 26:23 NASB - that the Christ was to suffer, [and] that by reason of [His] resurrection from the dead He would be the first to proclaim light both to the [Jewish] people and to the Gentiles."
Are you familiar with the following?
1 Peter 2:9 NASB - But you are A CHOSEN RACE, A royal PRIESTHOOD, A HOLY NATION, A PEOPLE FOR [God's] OWN POSSESSION, so that you may proclaim the excellencies of Him who has called you out of darkness into His marvelous light;
