Really? Russians are interfering without cause? A "democracy" can persecute and kill it's own citizens as it is "medieval" to interfere with a "democracy"? Because that's what has been going on for years now. Ethnic Russians living in Ukraine have been less than second class citizens. They are a minority there and the fatal weakness of democracies is that the majority can always persecute the minority. The history of failed democracies is littered with examples of this. It is why the founding fathers of the US made us a Republic not a democracy.

The easiest way to achieve that would be to conquer the government, to force the government to agree to the annexation. Replace the corrupt existing Ukrainian government with a corrupt government that Putin can pull the strings of.

Yes and to circle back to where I jumped in, while this is a goal that Putin has not yet achieved it is by no means a goal that he has given up on I'm sure.
Personally speaking, I think the constitution is the reason we have legal pornography, homo-sexual marriage, schools without God, and morally corrupt government.
