A video about a subject that isn't sex and is on a Christian site, recommended to those participating by someone purporting to be a Christian and who has agreed to follow the rules of the site. I don't feel badly about trusting you prior to the subsequent display of immaturity on your part. Nothing I'd read of you would have led me to believe you'd do that, or that once you knew about it you'd respond as childishly as you did and do.

At some point you need to let go of your excuse of trusting a stranger on an internet site for the content your little boy hears at home without previewing it.
Trusting a virtual stranger for what videos your child hears is not good parenting.

Right. He was playing nearby and I chose to hit play. And once upon a time I watched a Super Bowl where someone exposed a boob. I don't feel guilty about either, since neither should have happened and I had no reason at all to suspect your lack of judgment on something that fundamental.

You had the only reasonable control in play, your purported value system and your acceptance of the rules of the joint. I mistakenly thought you were the sort of person who would honor the latter and for whom the former would be as offensive as it should be to anyone.

Never happened. It was a one off. I trusted you to be better than you are. I'd still extend that trust to some here, but it was a lesson about some, mostly those whose conduct and comments are routinely at the fringe and moved by emotion as often or more than reason.

A good parent would have paid attention and not just relied on assumption.
You just cannot get past the fact that because YOU hit play, your child heard a bad word.
And I feel pretty confident that your little boy has heard the word before because YOU didn't preview content before allowing it to be heard.
When it comes to YOU playing videos that your child can hear, it is YOU that has proved to be a bad parent.
No matter how hard you try (and you have tried really hard) to blame your child hearing the video on me, I'm not the parent that hit play for him to hear before reviewing content.

I've never been unclear on the point. And, again, his head didn't explode. He knows, because I've taught him, that decent people don't use that word or if they do they apologize for it and try to keep from making that mistake again. He's a great kid.
