:idunno: I wouldn't focus on the sponsors too much. The message of the protests should be accepted or rejected on its own.

And I would guess that you wouldn't support the message even without the socialist sponsors.

What exactly is "the message"?

What exactly is "the message"?

As I said earlier, I haven't been following it very closely so I'm not sure what the message is. It's probably a mix of messages. But I think some of it is about corporate power in politics, the bailouts of the banking industry, and tax breaks on the rich. I've seen some about the 1% vs the 99%.

TomO could probably say better.

Did you see the video he posted in your Murderer in Chief thread? :chuckle:

I did. It's hard not to mock these guys.

And I'm feeling lazy these days.

:mock: stupid protester kids with no agenda

There are almost as many grievances as there are protesters. "We're tired, we're mad, and we're standing up," protester Hero Vincent today told ABC News. He complains that the movement is "degraded" by the news media for not having a limited and well thought out set of goals. "Our constitution took a year to make," he says. " We've been here for three weeks, and we're supposed to have an agenda? That makes no sense."

Professor Yochai Benkler, co-director of Harvard University's Berkman Center for Internet and Society, calls Occupy Wall Street still very much a movement in the making. "One of the beautiful things about it," he says, "is that it is a movement defining itself as it 'becomes.'"

There are some of them (bless their widdle hearts :chuckle: ) which have been trying to lend some coherency to what is going on.

List of Demands said:
Demand one: Restoration of the living wage. This demand can only be met by ending "Freetrade" by re-imposing trade tariffs on all imported goods entering the American market to level the playing field for domestic family farming and domestic manufacturing as most nations that are dumping cheap products onto the American market have radical wage and environmental regulation advantages. Another policy that must be instituted is raise the minimum wage to twenty dollars an hr.

Demand two: Institute a universal single payer healthcare system. To do this all private insurers must be banned from the healthcare market as their only effect on the health of patients is to take money away from doctors, nurses and hospitals preventing them from doing their jobs and hand that money to wall st. investors.

Demand three: Guaranteed living wage income regardless of employment.

Demand four: Free college education.

Demand five: Begin a fast track process to bring the fossil fuel economy to an end while at the same bringing the alternative energy economy up to energy demand.

Demand six: One trillion dollars in infrastructure (Water, Sewer, Rail, Roads and Bridges and Electrical Grid) spending now.

Demand seven: One trillion dollars in ecological restoration planting forests, reestablishing wetlands and the natural flow of river systems and decommissioning of all of America's nuclear power plants.

Demand eight: Racial and gender equal rights amendment.

Demand nine: Open borders migration. anyone can travel anywhere to work and live.

Demand ten: Bring American elections up to international standards of a paper ballot precinct counted and recounted in front of an independent and party observers system.

Demand eleven: Immediate across the board debt forgiveness for all. Debt forgiveness of sovereign debt, commercial loans, home mortgages, home equity loans, credit card debt, student loans and personal loans now! All debt must be stricken from the "Books." World Bank Loans to all Nations, Bank to Bank Debt and all Bonds and Margin Call Debt in the stock market including all Derivatives or Credit Default Swaps, all 65 trillion dollars of them must also be stricken from the "Books." And I don't mean debt that is in default, I mean all debt on the entire planet period.

Demand twelve: Outlaw all credit reporting agencies.

Demand thirteen: Allow all workers to sign a ballot at any time during a union organizing campaign or at any time that represents their yeah or nay to having a union represent them in collective bargaining or to form a union.

These demands will create so many jobs it will be completely impossible to fill them without an open borders policy.

Like people have been saying, the cause is good but the execution is a complete flop.

Someone has been executed? :plain:

People are beginning to catch on to people power.....it is like watching the antics of a tiger cub, this one is going to grow up mean folks.

Rape our economy, rob us blind, send our country into a tailspin, ruin lives, foreclose homes, wipe out savings...

And get rewarded for it.

In fact, many of the people you've hurt will be unwilling or unable to criticize you because they're enamored by and fascinated by the rich.

Nice racket.

Battered wives.

The TheologyOnline.com TOPIC OF THE DAY for October 3rd, 2011 09:36 AM

toldailytopic: The "big" Occupy Wall Street anti-capitalist protests. Thoughts?

The days of angry young people leading a charge of civil disobedience toward an idealistic goal ... are over. These are just kids throwing a tantrum for the attention they can get. Too many leaders. Too many causes. Just another reality show where the script ran out the back door and took off in fifty different directions.

Sounds great to me; though I'm not sure #11 & 12 would work as stated.

I saw a sign that read, "How about a maximum wage?"

How communist do you have to be to think people shouldn't be free to make as much money as they can?

There was another one that read, "Wall Street wants to gay marry your illegal immigration abortion." And the reasoning behind it claimed those issues were minor political issues. How sad that someone can think murder is a minor issue, or even a political one.

Yay! Watch middle and working class people cheer on the people who flushed our economy.

You guys are priceless.

I'm telling you: battered wives. The right wing in this country is so awestruck and agog with the rich that they're willing to grovel and serve as sock puppets in tri-corner hats.

"You just don't understand! You don't know him the way I do. He'll change. Honest."
