Fault doesn't figure into it. It's a matter of responsibility. The captain is responsible for the safety of the passengers in his care.

And if they are not safe, he was at fault for being irresponsible. Aside from irregular circumstances I mentioned that he can't stop.

He wishes now he had gone down with his ship

What matters is his malfeisance. As the Captain he is in charge and responsible for everything that happens on the ship. It is reported that the Crew abandoned their obligations to the passengers as well. They took care of themselves and ignored the passengers.
This attitude is a "from the top down" attitude.

Reminds me of the time the F*masns hung the Vatican banker off that totally symbolic bridge.

er, what's the real story? _probably as strange as Barbery Coast pirates scuttling the ship over Bon-Libens reputed corpse.

Insurance

Insurance

Isn't insurance included in the passengers ticket? It will be years until all the law suits are settled. The living passengers will get a complete refund and probably an offer for a free cruise. The families of the dead can sue for millions!

Who'd want to go on a cruise after going through that?

Though I was not a big fan of the new Star Trek reboot, the scene where George Kirk goes down with his ship to save over 800 lives, including his wife and just born son James T. Kirk, is an amazing scene. :jawdrop:

Hi Polly, it's all strange, Would b interesting if there were reason for that ship to have been more profitable as a right off in falling economy.. inwhich a plan would have been put in place to perhaps go all wrong as the captain changes the route while it's dark an no ones going to yel: prevent: as the ship sails closer to the collision target any last minute interference would surly have cause this disaster. Nothing like the titanic really no dangerous conditions, simply to easily done!
