But, to tell a struggling woman she should go find a man ...
If she's got a kid she already did it at least once before.
I haven't read through all of the recent activity on this thread but if she's got a kid then there's a man out there who's not living up to his responsibilities.

A non-sequitur is "a conclusion or statement that does not logically follow from the previous argument or statement."

Your use of the Latin phrase is wrong.

You said: How about people just pay for the things that they want instead of expecting someone else to foot the bill?
I replied: People already do pay, for higher education. But is in the best interest of America to invest in BASIC education for its people. That is not socialist, that is common sense.

That is not a non-sequitur.

Now you argue simply to argue and I do not care for that. Goodbye
You changed the subject when you jumped the rails to "higher education".
Don't try to move the goal posts. That's a type of non-sequitur.

My comments are being used to drag this thread way off the topic. I simply was trying to make the point that it is far easier to say "Take your kids out of school" than it is to actually do it for the millions of Americans in very difficult situations.

Ridiculous comments like "Go find a man" and other nonsense are not solutions to peoples' serious problems. We need real solutions.

Now the topic is "The time has come...to disobey" and I agree. My post was a good example, some people didn't think it was, and there it is.

Here is another great example:

Hundreds of hospital staffers fired or suspended for refusing COVID-19 vaccine mandate

And for the police fired for the same thing, DeSantis has good news for them:

Gov. DeSantis proposes $5,000 bonuses for police that relocate to Florida

Because society has allowed itself to be controlled by fear.

Let's go back to being rational, and lets stop throwing out the past 5000 years of medical history.

The answer is here:

My neighbor has the right to choose to be afraid.

If he is afraid that I unknowingly carry an illness, he has the right to be afraid of me. He has the right to stay away from me. But he does not have the right to control me, detain me, or deface me.

If he comes near me and I am ill, he may catch my illness. If he fears my illness he can stay away.

I will come to him if he needs me, even if he’s sick.

When we are well, I’ll eat with him in a restaurant, sit next to him in a theatre or wait in line with him at the grocery store. I’ll never force him to do anything against his will and I expect the same respect from him.

I accept the inherent risk of death in life. If I should inadvertently catch an illness from him, I will not hold him responsible. Even if I perish. This is how it’s always been, and it’s how it should always be.

If I am knowingly ill, I pledge to respect my neighbors and contain my illness as best I can while still providing for myself and my family. I cannot guarantee that I will not spread a pathogen, but I will be considerate.

I promise to never rob, murder, envy, vandalize or bear false witness against my neighbor.

Even though I am a conservative and want small government, education is one of the few things that benefit America. An educated population can do good work and have good jobs and make us a superpower. Education is just as necessary as a Military. It helps us keep a middle class, and we desperately need that.

People often abuse the phrase in the constitution "promote the general welfare", but this is a rare case when the the standard of living for all is raised, when the population is educated. Like I said, It is in the best interest of America to invest in BASIC education for its people. That is not socialist, that is common sense.

The problem is the people running the dang schools, and unions.

John Stossel is the guy to follow on this subject. He has figured out some pretty smart things and he has reported on this topic for decades.

Education videos:
I followed your link to Stossel and watched his piece on homeschooling. We have found over the last 50 years in our church school thast Christian schools and home schools often produce students with higher levels of academic achievement than their counterparts in public schools. I blame that on progressive educators who dumb down classroom studies to meet social goals of inclusiveness, who introduce false narratives, including evolution, black supremacist racism, homosexuality acceptance, Marxism, and so forth. This is from Stossel's piece on homeschooling:

Even though students taught at homes make up just 2 percent of the entire school age population, they are more than 10 percent of the finalists in this year's national spelling bee. They will make up an even higher percentage at National Geographic Society's National Geographic Bee.

"I think there's a certain sense of astonishment," says Paige Kimble, the director of the Scripps Howard National Spelling Bee. "And frankly I think there's also a sense of respect and jealousy."

"The recent successes of home schoolers in these contests have been very beneficial for home education because it now becomes credible to many people who were thinking before that this is just done by a bunch of weirdos who want to go in the back woods and isolate their children," says Michael Smith, the president of the Home School Legal Defense Association. "There are people actually considering home schooling today [who] would have never thought about it 10 years ago."

This must be a quote from an old publication. The percent of homeschoolers in the U.S. today is up to around 4%. See https://www.thinkimpact.com/homeschooling-statistics/

INTRODUCTIONThis case concerns the Centers for Medicare and MedicaidServices’(“CMS”) federal vaccine mandate on a wide range of healthcare facilities.

601.Specifically, the mandate requires nearly every employee, volunteer, and third-party contractor working1at fifteen 2categories of health care facilities to be vaccinated

On November 10, 2021, Plaintiffs, the States of Missouri, Nebraska, Arkansas, Kansas, Iowa, Wyoming, Alaska, South Dakota, North Dakota, and New Hampshire (collectively, “Plaintiffs”)filed a Complaint challenging the mandate

Even if CMS has the authority to implement the vaccine mandate—which the Court finds is unlikely, as discussed above—the mandate is likely an unlawful promulgation of regulations. Both the Administrative Procedure Act (“APA”) and the Social Security Act ordinarily require notice and a comment period before a rule like this one takes effect.95 U.S.C. § 553; 42 U.S.C. §1395hh(b)(1). Failure to allow notice and comment, where required, is grounds for invalidating the rule.

These are the Great Reset people, the Build Back Better people. They’re the vaccine people. Bill Gates speaks there. And they think the world should have 90% fewer people.

Malthusians like Gates et al.: Overpopulation will lead to widespread death and destruction so we will create deadly viral pandemics to cull the population with widespread death and destruction as a preventative measure against overpopulation.
