"Expensive" compared to what? Eternal lockdown? It's not as if there's another option here.
You can't have eternal lockdown. Fortunately, there is something called a "vaccine". That is the other option.

The vaccine may actually do some good as well as some harm. Millions of Americans are rejecting the vaccine for good reasons and government officials trying to mandate the vaccine are doing more harm than good.
Oh, who cares that the "vaccines" don't come close to working as promised and have a very large set of severe health side effects? Who cares about that when those who are getting very wealthy off the sales of these "vaccines" keep telling people "trust us" all our conflicts of interest could never affect our judgement. We would never lie to you so we could line our pockets with hundreds of millions of dollars.
And politicians keep telling us: "Trust us, we would never lie to you to get and maintain power. Only orange man would ever lie. Not us. We are paragons of virtue. We've only lied to you and sold out to domestic and foreign lobbyists thousands of times in the past. We've completely changed now. How do you know that? We just told you we're now scrupulously honest. Oh, and don't you remember our new policy? No liar or anyone affected by greed can ever be a member of a political party. That's why we got rid of orange man. He was rich when he tried to join us. So, nothing to see here. Just go back to sleep and trust us."
Show the evidence for that away from corrupt politicians, corrupt bureaucrats, and vaccine companies, and those making anywhere from hundreds of million to billions of dollars off them.

Don't forget that researchers say that the majority of refuseniks are the brightest, best educated and most well-informed. Yup. That's actually true according to a couple of studies done on we refuseniks.
Lockdowns are only a temporary solution. The vaccine loses effectiveness after a while- and there was a new variant.
These solutions aren't perfect. There is the wonderful perfect godly solution of just letting everybody get infected: No negative side effects to that solution, if you don't care about millions of dead people. And there is no guarantee that that will stop the epidemic either, as people do get infected a second time. But hey, who cares about dead people anyhow?
Tens of thousands of Americans already had antibodies in their system against the coronavirus before lockdowns were introduced in 2020. Nancy Pelosi was parading in the street in San Francisco after the coronavirus hit in 2020, encouraging Americans to come out and shop. And then in typical lying democrat fashion, she blamed Trump for the coronavirus deaths.
Lockdowns have been very bad for the economy of the entire world. Leftists kept promoting the lockdowns but they were wrong to do so.
Here's a prediction. You can test me on this.
The number of Covid cases in Israel will continue dropping for about a week or 10 days. There will be a rise after that, due to school opening and the holidays. Afterwards, the number of cases will continue to drop, as will the number of seriously ill and deaths, due to that totally ineffective booster vaccine shot. About 6 weeks from now we'll have half the cases that we have now.
Covid cases increase and decrease like the tide. Vaccines and social distancing are not what drives the tide even though the fearful want to believe that.

A "solution" that causes great hardship and many deaths of its own.
The vaccine never stops those that are vaccinated from transmitting the disease. It only protects the individual somewhat, at a significant risk from the vaccine itself.
