It isn't always tolerated. I do watch the reps and if I see inappropriate comments being made through the reps, I do give out infractions.

He already destroyed it by calling me a liar about him making a rep thread over meshak and then getting it shown after a couple days of harrassing me over saying he had one, and repeatedly claiming he didnt.

Easy, one rep from me, alone will remove the impact of your 6 negs to him. Negs count for almost nothing, one positive from most people remove their impact.

To respond to the OP; Yes, the rep system is now and has always been a joke.
If you want to game it game away, the fact that it can be gamed means it is useless. Those who game it have to spend all that time doing it and then Knight resets it so think of all the hours they spent gaming for useless internet points that just vanish eventually anyway.

I frequent a site called "Reddit" quite often. It has a similar system known as karma. It is neat to watch the numbers go up, but they are ultimately meaningless.
