The New Rep System Is A Joke

I got it by many folks repping me.

I don't even know how many reps I have gotten since this reset. The page only shows 25. I can't scroll down to see how many pages I have gotten in the last few days.

In other words, I have no idea how many posts I have had repped since the reset. And neither do you.

i can safely say say i have repped Tambora 20 or more times in 4 days, and many others 10 or more times. i use all 60 each day. remember, i have to rep 5 others before repping somebody again. i usually rep recent posts, so Tam has been posting alot lately

Oh and why is the amount of reps so important if they are just used to inflate peoples egos?

It's nice to get affirmation, but IMO a like button on individual posts would be more revealing. There really is no need to have a dislike button as there is enough negativity on this site.

I have only seen 2 or 3 from you. But that is just because I cannot scroll down to see who all repped me each day. If it's not showing on the page (that only shows the last 25 reps I've gotten) while I'm looking at the page, then they scroll off, and the next time I look, it's a whole new group. So I haven't seen the ones that scroll off the page before I look at the page again.
But I do know that there are several people that rep me more than one time a day. Could be 10 times. I just don't know because I don't see them all.

However,...how can you be sure of any 'tinkering' of rep points behind the scenes, if we were all put at 'zero'. Not sure where you're finding the point value, except what green or red dots are under each user name, or what 'phrase they have" earned, showing their rep size. Does the new system also count neg reps? (not sure I've seen anyone in the red so far).

We weren't all put at 0. There was a little bit left based on the size of your prior rep as best I can tell.
However, I do see ABs point. If everyone is giving out rep at a point a time because everyone is at barebones rep, 50 or even a 100 reps a day wouldn't bring one anywhere close to 2000 in 3 days, unless some have a lot more rep giving power for some reason. Mine only boost other people's rep 1 point at a time now.

And who/what are "SOOTS"
I assume it is some kind of insider group I am not aware of.

Oh, well you must just be insanely popular then and broken the rep limit system as most regular users are restricted to 60 a day and on average less than 10 rep points per post, with a tri post system whereby rep has to be spread around before repping the same poster within that limit.

Yet, in the space of four days you've accumulated well over 2000 points of rep?

Gimme a break Tambora.

uh huh, likely story. you owe me 20 ! i'm kiddin' you know. yes i don't look much but i will more now. that's why i don't see folks repping me back i guess. i was slightly feeling snubbed because i gave so many people heavy rep and didn't see the same folks rep back. i gave Ktoyou over 20 also. i'm being generous and use them on good posts that either make me think or make me laugh. smiles and cries -

It depends how it comes about. 'SOOTS' has hardly been a secret for years now and the advantages that came with being in it including massive rep power. Are you telling me you're completely oblivious to that in all honesty?

Just in the matter of minutes she has been on this thread, I have seen her rep go from 2230 to 2285, and then the next time to 2335. (she seems to have a self-repping capability!!
she will clearly leave everyone else in the dust.

not at all, i repped you 2 times i think. it depends on the threads i go to. the people i agree with i see more often than others. i rep alot of MAD threads and good people. i don't know why i repped you LOL - kidding StanJ

If everyone is giving out rep at a point a time because everyone is at barebones rep, 50 or even a 100 reps a day wouldn't bring one anywhere close to 2000 in 3 days, unless some have a lot more rep giving power for some reason. Mine only boost other people's rep 1 point at a time now.

Let's say you have 10 rep points. When you rep someone, it will give a low count (probably 1).
But then 50 people come along and rep you. Let's say they all only had 10 rep points, and could only give you 1 each.
Now you have 60 rep points. And now, when you rep someone, they get 5 rep points instead of 1.
50 more come and rep you, but they now give you more than 1 point because their rep score has also risen. You get 5 from each of them.
Now you have 310 rep points. And now, when you rep someone, they get 8 points. So their score grows, and they come back and rep you, thus giving you more points than they gave you before.


The higher your score is, the more rep points are given to those you rep.
And so on, and so on.

All the rep points are cumulative directly proportional to that persons rep/ you get more points from those with high reps. how they get them is by repping those they like. There is no mysterious way to get more.

oh, yeah right. everybody pick on the leader. easy math if she has 50 good friends and folks that agree (even newer members) with a sway of 3 or even 2 - i have seen my reps today add 3 points to who i rep. so if 50 folks give her just a few reps per day, rep that could be 300 to 500 points per day -

The higher your score goes, more points are given to all those you rep.
It doesn't stay at 1 point per post repped.
