I am Jesus' follower. The Bible is supposed be used to understand where Jesus is coming from. Your faith of "your works will not save you" is Christ-less doctrine.

Meshak began her postings about a month ago by focusing in on Jesus' teachings of the poverty and destitution of others and our response to them.

I well remember her posts listing Jesus' teachings on these ethical matters were met by outrage and alarm.

The opposition to her beliefs soon became expressed in personal attacks like making fun of her hat.

I still feel the reaction and anger toward Meshak is shameful. She has become a scapegoat for believers who can do nothing else but project their own shortcomings onto her.

While I agree with you on many topics, you aren't seeing the whole Meshak issue for what it is.

Meshak slams others and tells them they are being judgmental and in the next breath, tells them they are not true Christians.

She slams the military even though they finance her living.

She seeks private info regarding the personal lives of others and labels them as *secretive* for not sharing even though she doesn't share all the details of her own life.

All in all, she is no better than those she flings her accusations at. Until the time comes when she turns her venom towards you, it's easy to see her as a victim.

She has informed me in Private Messages and in public that she considers me wrong on some topic or another. And she has been unshakable and can certainly be construed as venomous. She does not hold back. I am pretty secure in my faith so I do not see her as threatening. I see her as a Christian who is willfully holding onto her own unique beliefs.

It always amazes me at how we are so willing to accuse our brother or sister in Christ as being a hypocrite yet fail to recognize our own hypocrisy.

Jesus said a LOT about hypocrisy, his preaching about the logs in our own eye is just one scriptural example of this truth.

A quick study of this website is full of many Christians pointing out the errors of other Christian believers. Differences in opinion around thoughts, feelings, actions and different points of the text abound on TOL.

I think it interesting that everyone jumps to pile on the "TOL scapegoat" whatever she posts. And since this began to happen in my view when she began cutting and pasting Jesus' own pronouncements, people got threatened.

Maybe this is not too surprising. I have found that most folks here fail to take Jesus at face value and instead focus on believing dogma ABOUT Jesus instead of taking Jesus seriously concerning his teachings for us.

Yes, I do this a lot because I am trying to be true to Jesus with all my heart, soul, strength and mind. You are one of my favorite ones in this forum too. But when I don't agree I will say so because I care. And yes, I do that to everyone including squeaky who is my favorite brother.

I know very well no one is perfect including me. Yet we need to stop perverting Jesus' word just because we fail to follow Him.

Jesus' teachings are simple, it is just hard to follow for most of us. Yet Jesus still expects us to do our best to follow Him. That's why Jesus sent the HS to give us power to overcome our sins.

Jesus commands us to be perfect.

Yep. You ever notice they don't make mention of the CROSS? They're stuck on the wrong side of it....hoping their own "righteousness" will save them. For the worker bees....

Yes. Grace by faith alone is nonnegotiable. I could disagree with someone on different doctrines and debate them, but faith alone, the deity of Christ and the divine inspiration of the Bible are not negotiable. IMO, people on TOL that reject these are not my brothers and sisters in Christ.

Why do you complain when we call YOU out then? the reason you find Jesus impossible to obey is because you are not saved...that is your first job.

Jesus told us to love our enemies and pray for those who persecute us. And he said many, many other things that were actual teachings he seems to have expected us to pay attention to and try to follow.

He either said these or he didn't. You cannot have it both ways. We should guard against declaring the Bible as inerrant yet asserting our own understanding of it is ALSO inerrant!
