Seems like TOL is mostly visited by lingering Atheist Trolls these days...

Its just an impression, but it seems we have lost a large number of Christian posters,
and have retained for no explicable reason the same number of atheist trolls
and mockers that we always had.

We might as well call this an Atheist Forum with peculiar rules
for Christian guests.

I hope I'm exaggerating.

I consider anything a breath of fresh air compared to the child abuse you seem intent on always talking about, Naz.

It can seem that way when you seem to label anyone who disagrees with you as an atheist.

Can't say I've noticed any surge of self-labeled atheists on this forumm.

The rest of us are not responsible for the horrific fantasyland that your mind lives in.

You've missed the point again.

I said there was a decrease in Christian attendance,
not an increase in atheist attendance.

I haven't mislabelled anyone as an atheist, or changed who I have categorized as trolls in any way.

The change in numbers must have another source.

My favorite atheist is Mr. Deets.

And Zoo.

And Fool.

They are good sports.

Granite is my favorite one to pick on, cause it's so easy to push his buttons and watch him spit and sputter.

Atheists, new agers and works-salvationists are taking over TOL.

what a comment. It is majority spreading the doctrine "your works cannot save you".

and you seem to be one of them. You don't seem to realize you are working against Jesus when you spread this kind of doctrine. You don't have much respect of Jesus' teachings or commands.

Jesus says if you love Me, keep My commands.

You are one of very typical majority Christian.

You don't even believe in the Bible. I love people telling me what Jesus meant when they don't even know themselves. I know the Bible. Go brag to Jesus about your wonderful works

One thing I have noticed is that both believers and atheists make a fundamental mistake. I think this error started from the Enlightenment with the rise of scientific methodology, rational thought and a dependence on what was deemed to be "factually correct."

Traditional Christians tend to take the sacred and profound mythic metaphors of Christianity literally and force their minds to make the verses as real facts--even when they contradict each others.

Most atheists take the same factual approach to the same Bible.

The difference is that they pronounce the facts nonsense and reject them out of hand.

Nazaroo,

if you can ever get into a face-to-face meeting with an atheist, ask them to actually try to describe this God that they don't believe in. I have gotten some interesting answers that have opened the door for some real dialogue and understanding between myself and the other person.

Wait a minute!

Jesus told us to love our enemies and pray for those who persecute us. And he said many, many other things that were actual teachings he seems to have expected us to pay attention to and try to follow.

He either said these or he didn't. You cannot have it both ways. We should guard against declaring the Bible as inerrant yet asserting our own understanding of it is ALSO inerrant!

Meshak began her postings about a month ago by focusing in on Jesus' teachings of the poverty and destitution of others and our response to them.

I well remember her posts listing Jesus' teachings on these ethical matters were met by outrage and alarm.

The opposition to her beliefs soon became expressed in personal attacks like making fun of her hat.

I still feel the reaction and anger toward Meshak is shameful. She has become a scapegoat for believers who can do nothing else but project their own shortcomings onto her.
