tetelestai is a Preterist. Is Mark 13:30 the linchpin for his whole theology?
Mark 13:30 30 Verily I say unto you, that this generation shall not pass, till all these things be done. |
*Tet cannot discern that the three accounts of this in Mark, Matthew, and Luke concern both what happened in 70ad and what will happen at the Second Coming.
These were the two next events in prophecy to take place, and the LORD lumped them all together, except for a brief hint found in Luke.
There are similarities between the events of 70ad and the Second Coming. Tet majors on these, and ignores the MANY differences between the two events, to his own peril.
His adoption of preterism was born out of a recent hatred of all things dispensational and for the King James Bible.
He sought solace from preterism after the dispensationalist and KJB believer john w hurt his feelings.
tetelestai is a Preterist.
His eschatology (different from theology) is based on a belief that this verse says the destruction of the Temple and the return of Jesus all happen within a single generation (about 40 years).
Mark 13:30
30 Verily I say unto you, that this generation shall not pass, till all these things be done.
History shows the fulfillment of the destruction of the Temple in 70 CE, so a Preterist believes Jesus returned in 70 CE since the verse says "all these things" which he believes includes the return of Jesus.
Futurists also believe the same verse includes both the destruction of the Temple and the return of Jesus, so they have to discount the destruction of the Temple in 70 CE in order to have it happen again within the time of the return of Jesus.
As a Historicist, I am able to compare the fulfillment of the destruction of the Temple in 70 CE and the lack of any sign of the return of Jesus at the end of the great tribulation and realize that the great tribulation is much longer than 7 years or even 40 years, and understand that the verse that says all these things will happen in this generation is only referring to the statements Jesus made about the destruction of the temple and the events leading up to it.
