2 Tim 1:9
9 Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began,
Not being saved by ones works is something the natural man, the religious man cannot receive, even though God has consistently bore testimony to this Truth.
Rom 4:6
Even as David also describeth the blessedness of the man, unto whom God imputeth righteousness without works,
Rom 11:6
And if by grace, then is it no more of works: otherwise grace is no more grace. But if it be of works, then it is no more grace: otherwise work is no more work.
Rom 9:11
11 (For the children being not yet born, neither having done any good or evil, that the purpose of God according to election might stand, not of works, but of him that calleth)
Eph 2:8-9
8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
9Not of works, lest any man should boast.
Titus 3:5
5 Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;
And yes Faith / Believing is a work of the mind, and so the saved are saved apart from their act of Faith/ Believing, all our works are excluded,
So thats why Paul writes that even when we were being enemies, we had been reconciled to God Rom 5:10
0For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.
That proves that even the Elects Faith wasnt't a consideration in their being reconciled to God.
Yes reconciliation is Salvation, its being saved legally from the condemnation and penalty of sin, they , the reconciled, can never be charged with sin and its consequences Rom 4:8, and their final Salvation is ensured by the Life of Christ Rom 5:10
0 For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.
Yet the main point should not be lost, and thats , being saved wasnt by their works, not by anything they did or did not do, because they were saved even while being enemies to God !
