In case that "rural" label suprised you as it did me (not so much that it was made as who made it), it's a thing on the Left now.

The real problem isn’t east coast elites who don’t understand or care about rural America. The real problem is rural America doesn’t understand the causes of their own situations and fears and they have shown no interest in finding out. They don’t want to know why they feel the way they do or why they are struggling because they don’t want to admit it is in large part because of choices they’ve made and horrible things they’ve allowed themselves to believe.

That explains the poster in question's repeated derision of "rural" Americans (whether you actually are or not). If it sounded like a supercilious urban leftist is calling you a hick for voting Trump, that's only because it is a supercilious urban leftist calling you that.

Link below. Good luck making it all the way through the long, strident, narrow, preachy and boringly repetitive article...just like that member's spasm of recent political threads...

How do you know that?......
Seriously? A walk through San Francisco, laden with nudity, drugs, filth, perverts and more will tell you all you need to know about inner cities. And if that doesn't convince you, a walk through Chicago with gang wars and more murders than a war zone will. The last time I walked through San Francisco I wanted to puke. The dump even smells bad. Do you think these people appreciate the miracle of America?

.........What do you say America is?
America is a land of liberty and freedom where you can make whatever you want out of your life IF you apply yourself - if your apply yourself. Equality of outcome is not guaranteed or promised, but equality of opportunity is. Any child, rich or poor, if they study in school and get all A's will end up in a good place. How many kids do you know focus their life on study and getting grades? Hardly none these days. Hence, most people in bad shape have made their own beds..... ....not all, but most.

Here's a map (although from 2012) with the states stretched to show their proportion of the population.
Nice try. Not real.

Fair enough.

You're right.
So if you're born with the right kind of parents (the kind that make you study and do well in school), then you are rewarded with opportunity. If you're born with the wrong kind of parents, you're screwed.

The problem is, we don't choose our parents.

Nice try. Not real.

Um... alright.

Then should the enlightened minority make decisions for the barbaric majority?

Maybe.

But that's sure not democracy.

It'd be a form of majority rule, which is democracy -- population centers determining elections while everyone else is reduced to just being along for the ride. That's why the E.C. exists.

As opposed to 62 million determining the election, and 64 million just being "along for the ride."

Why is that any better?

Without the E.C., population centers - if voting in leftist unison as they now do - would hold a permanent lock on elections, especially when coupled with red area vote fraud that always favors the Left.

Why shouldn't the majority win every time?
