[About National Police Week] "In 1962, President John F. Kennedy signed a proclamation which designated May 15th as Peace Officers Memorial Day and the week in which that date falls as Police Week. Currently, tens of thousands of law enforcement officers from around the world converge on Washington, DC to participate in a number of planned events which honor those that have paid the ultimate sacrifice.

The Memorial Service began in 1982 as a gathering in Senate Park of approximately 120 survivors and supporters of law enforcement. Decades later, the event, more commonly known as National Police Week, has grown to a series of events which attracts thousands of survivors and law enforcement officers to our Nation's Capital each year.

The National Peace Officers' Memorial Service, which is sponsored by the Grand Lodge of the Fraternal Order of Police, is one in a series of events which includes the Candlelight Vigil, which is sponsored by the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund (NLEOMF) and seminars sponsored by Concerns of Police Survivors (C.O.P.S.)

National Police Week draws in between 25,000 to 40,000 attendees. The attendees come from departments throughout the United States as well as from agencies throughout the world. This provides a unique opportunity to meet others that share a common brotherhood. In that spirit, the Fraternal Order of Police DC Lodge #1 sponsors receptions each afternoon and evening during Police Week. These events are open to all law enforcement personnel and are an experience unlike any other." PoliceWeek.org Ro 13:4, 2 Thess. 2:7, 8 more

DIRTY: The Baltimore DA Has Direct Ties To Some People She Hopes We’ll Never Find Out About

It looks like things are getting a little complicated for Baltimore State Attorney Marilyn Mosby.

The Fraternal Order of Police in Baltimore has called for a special independent prosecutor for the investigation of Freddie Gray’s death because of Mosby’s connections within the community.

In a letter released just minutes before Mosby announced the charges against the six officers charged with Gray’s death, Gene Ryan, president of Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 3, expressed his concerns over the fact that Mosby is married to a city councilman and has connections to the Gray family through their attorney, William H. Murphy Jr.

“I have very deep concerns about the many conflicts of interest presented by your office conducting an investigation in this case,” the letter read. “These conflicts include your personal and professional relations with Gray family attorney, William Murphy, and the lead prosecutor’s connections with members of the local media.”

The letter stateed that Murphy donated $5,000 to Mosby’s campaign last year and he also served on her transition committee.

The letter also pointed out potential problems with Mosby’s marriage to Baltimore City Councilman Nick Mosby.

“It is clear that your husband’s political future will be directly impacted, for better or worse, by the outcome of your investigation,” according to the letter.
