As an aside to the discussion in this thread of the unseemly, men-with-men perversion popularly called "homosexuality", I wonder: has anyone else ever wondered if there might be a far-back etymological relation between the word 'sodium' and the name 'Sodom'? I've often wondered this, prompted not only by the obvious similarity in the 'sod' part of the two words, but also because of the reputed locale of the city of Sodom as being at the Dead Sea, a.k.a. the Salt Sea.
