So, guaranteed, Ronald Reagan would have been in talks with Putin, Zelensky and other involved countries to find a solution to the war. He would not have been throwing money and arms at Ukraine to keep the war going. He would be following the same advice as Victor Orban is calling for now.
While the Chinese are definitely going to take advantage of this exactly the way you state it, they still are not going to invade Taiwan unless some outside force pushes them to do so. I'm sure @Stripe can confirm this but Taiwan is already going in the direction of simply acquiescing to China without any Invasion necessary. Or if there is an invasion deemed necessary they won't invade until it is a foregone conclusion that Taiwan will fold without a full scale defense. China always plays the long game but they also will accept any advantages they can get whenever they present themselves, like Russia and Ukraine changing the Overton window.@Stripe

Come to think of it Putin would never have invaded Ukraine because Reagan would have already been in talks with Putin to avoid the war to begin with.
Standard disclaimer: Reagan was not a great president but on this particular point he was correct. And he had enough self reflection and humility to avoid WW3 on principle. This is better than and unlike Trump. Even so, I think Trump, unlike the Biden regime (whoever is actually in charge), would prefer to be in talks then flirt with World War III which shows how the current regime is worse than even the terrible Trump.

And it was all done without World War III. Absolutely brilliant, in contrast with the Biden crime family trying to start WW3 just to avoid some embarrassment and/or to get money.

Depends. Public opinion is against such a thing, but a new government might facilitate movement in that direction.
However, last time the KMT tried something that was seen as opening the door to China, a bunch of students occupied the legislature for 30 days amid a whole lot of sometimes peaceful protests.
That's a good point. I tend to see this in the American experience where we get what the leaders want and not what the people want. And I think the leaders not only watch how American politicians pull that off, but they can get help from American political leaders to pull the same shenanigans.
I'm not sure what scenario might lead to Taiwan becoming part of China. I guess it would have to be voluntary on our government's part with suppression of a major public uprising.
