Fear of the virus was.

Lockdowns kill people. They aren't a solution to the problem.

Why would it mention something that didn't exist yet? And what does that have any relevance to what I asked? Don't change the subject.

Do you assert that the guidelines for infectious diseases and health practices found in Leviticus 13-15 are "utterly simplistic tropes" and "absolute ignorance"?
Well, viruses that can kill kinda instil fear, that's hardly breaking news. This one sure has despite people trying to pretend it's just a mild cold for the most part.

Lockdowns are an extreme measure to take, no disputing that at all or the negative ramifications that they have in any way. A lot. That's why they're only enacted in extreme crisis such as a global pandemic...

In regards to your latter, no, I don't assert such at all. I don't look to the OT in regards to anything regarding medicine or forensic science either so that should answer your question - if you can appreciate the context at least.

No, they're just one of the protective measures when in the midst of a pandemic.
Results Case growth was not significantly different between mandate and non-mandate states at low or high transmission rates, and surges were equivocal.
Conclusions Mask mandates and use are not associated with slower state-level COVID-19 spread during COVID-19 growth surges. Containment requires future research and implementation of existing efficacious strategies.

Face Masks CDC

In our systematic review, we identified 10 RCTs that reported estimates of the effectiveness of face masks in reducing laboratory-confirmed influenza virus infections in the community from literature published during 1946–July 27, 2018. In pooled analysis, we found no significant reduction in influenza transmission with the use of face masks

You're the first person I've ever known of who fears the common cold. You know it's caused by a coronavirus don't you? You must also fear the flu as it's caused by a virus too. I've never gotten a flu shot. And that fact has decreased the odds of me ever catching the coronavirus by 36% compared to anyone who has gotten a flu shot according the DoD

I've always considered 99 out of 100 chances very good odds. I'd bet the farm on those odds at any time. I guess you consider a 1 in 100 chance of losing way too risky as you think lockdowns which are leaving little kids distraught and unable to cope and petri dish masks good ways to increase your odds.

Biden has been vaccinated so why does he continue to wear a mask? Is he demonstrating he has no confidence in the vaccine or is he demonstrating he has no confidence in the science which says he has no need to wear a mask?

U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Director Rochelle Walensky issued a clarification on the COVID-19 “Delta” variant, proclaiming that fully vaccinated individuals are protected against the strain and don’t need to wear masks.

Some municipalities—including Los Angeles County—and a number of countries, as well as the World Health Organization (WHO), have recommended mask-wearing in recent days due to the Delta COVID-19 strain. Such guidance has triggered confusion about whether the virus can affect vaccinated individuals and prompted fears that health officials would reimplement more lockdowns or other measures.

Walensky, however, said the CDC’s recommendation on wearing masks in public hasn’t changed.

“If you are vaccinated, you are safe from the variants that are circulating here in the United States,” Walensky told NBC’s “Today” show, adding that it was “exactly right” that the agency’s guidance still stipulates that vaccinated individuals don’t need to wear masks.
