legalized gay marriage is NOT the problem: it is STATE's rights

Don't know if you're being deliberately stupid, but I'll try one more time.

In Loving v. Virginia the SCOTUS overturned a state's laws on marriage.

In this thread you objected to Friday's gay marriage ruling on the grounds that the SCOTUS should leave marriage issues to the states.

So the obvious question is, do you object to Loving v. Virginia on the same grounds (SCOTUS shouldn't overturn state marriage laws)?

well, the Sup Ct DOES deal with marriage issues IF and when those said issues involve VIOLATing the Constitution

Loving v Virginia fits that definition..

However, there is NO right to marry in the Constitution..

Since the Reagan Administration, the conservative strategy has been to stack the Supreme Court with "right wing" justices to promote their agenda.

Now that this strategy has come back to "bite" them, the fall-back position is to bypass the Constitution and make their agenda a "states-right" issue - the same approach that was used to perpetuate slavery and then segregation in the past.

If the Supreme Court had ruled in their favor, the conservatives would be in no mood to indulge their liberal "friends" if they brought up the states rights argument.
