Just the Law, or Legalism

Hello Everyone,

While prepping through Galatians, a thought comes to mind that I've been pondering the past couple of days.
When the apostle writes to the churches and references "the Law" or the "works of the Law", is Paul just referring to the Jewish Mosaic Law, or is he encompassing the whole idea of justification through good works?

Personally, I believe that we are saved for the purpose of glorifying God through good works, but we are not saved by doing good works, but rather through the finished work of Jesus Christ on the cross.

What are your thoughts?

Seems to me that Paul focuses on salvation which results in good works. The works aren’t exactly stressed, though, which makes them easy to overlook. This causes people to think nothing is really required of them.

Sounds right to me. We aren’t here to be puffed up by our knowledge or wealth. Actually, we are to be living the Kingdom life. That life Jesus taught when He walked among us. Thus, we should never abandon the red letters. 🙂
