Is rape "about" sex?

What I've learned from the Hefner/Trump Homosexual thread is that a person's sexual orientation is innate and immutable.

If a man (let's say a prison inmate) appears to have changed his sexual orientation, he has only deceived you. He has not changed from heterosexual to homosexual because (1) he is not in love, and (2) rape is not "about" sex.

Is that true? Is rape not "about" sex?

I was told to educate myself, because I appointed out that it seems strange that every rapist would have sex with their victim, if rape was not about sex.

So help educate me.

For the victim rape is not about sex. It's about trust, vulnerability, control, etc. that was all lost. And then after, it can be just as traumatic as the actual event when people don't believe you and they actually blame you, that can f*ck you up just as bad as the rape itself.
For the rapist... I don't know what it's about bc it's hard to see their viewpoint. My guess is it's not about sex. If you want sex you can pay for it, masterbate, watch porn, pick up Willing women. It is probably more about power, and control. They are just sick people who think they have rights to other people's bodies. They are angry and hate women for some reason.

I think rape in jail can be about sex. But I think it's establishing power and control and I guess people get turned on by that? When a man rapes another man in jail it's different than when a man rapes a women elsewhere.

Ok, a rapist is not "having sex" with their victim, not unless you consider the penetrative act alone to count as that in which case the victim would technically be "having sex" with their attacker in turn, which is blatantly ridiculous.

Exactly. There's a reason why psychopaths rape and it's not about sex. As you point out, there's many a way someone can satisfy themselves sexually without attacking someone, not that I think this will register with the OP who seems stubbornly bound on his demented roll...
