Hot Plate Used to Keep Food Warm on the Sabbath Sparks Brooklyn Fire That Kills Seven

The one thing that made this man admirable in my eyes and to this day admire him greatly was the words that he said:

"I wasn't coming back without her."

Is that why you admire him?

Who besides :CRASH: ISIS wouldn't try to save a child in danger?

It would have taken more than a tazer to keep me out were that one of my kids. I'd rather die trying to save him than to sit outside the house in safety. :madmad:

Thanks for linking to it.

But I don't think you understand the power of a tazer. It immobilizes the intended victim for half a minute or more. Using that amount of time and repeated tazer bursts, even in the car, they kept him from resisting, although I'm sure he was screaming and kicking inside the car.

Of course you're right. It is just a maddening story. As a father, I can not even fathom what it would be like to be repeatedly tazered so that you could not even attempt to save a member of your family. :madmad:

This isn't about religion or the sabbath.

Its about the very important and continually OVERproven rule:

(1) NEVER LEAVE COOKING UNATTENDED.
REMAIN IN THE ROOM AT ALL TIMES.

This is the ONLY rule that can prevent fires started from cooking incidents,
and the ONLY rule that can provide at least two things:

(a) Supervision to prevent a cooking fire from even starting.

(b) Early enough intervention to prevent entrapment and death by fire.

DO NOT
PUT WATER ON AN OIL-FIRE!!!

IF YOU CAN'T FIND A LID, USE BAKING SODA!

Once a fire is accidentally started, if someone is standing in the room,
they can immediately grab the specially rated COOKING EXTINGUISHER
and put out the fire before any damage is done.

90% plus of housefires are from unattended cooking. (responsibility of the cook!)

the remaining housefires are from bad wiring. (responsibility of the landlord/owner).

Other important and MANDATORY rules for kitchens:

(2) HAVE A FULLY CHARGED
COOKING FIRE EXTINGUISHER HANDY.

(3) NEVER LET SMALL CHILDREN PLAY IN OR ENTER A KITCHEN
WITH BOILING POTS OR COOKING ACTIVITY.

(4) NEVER LET CHILDREN PLAY NEAR A HOT STOVE OR OVEN.

(5) NEVER HAVE DRAPES OR PLASTIC BLINDS NEAR A STOVE, OVEN, or TOASTER.

(6) NEVER SET TOASTERS ON MAXIMUM.

(7) ALWAYS USE INSULATING POTHOLDERS TO HANDLE POTS and TRAYS.

(8) NEVER DISTRACT SOMEONE HANDLING DANGEROUS or HEATED ITEMS.

(9) NEVER LEAVE PAPER OR PLASTIC NEAR A STOVETOP.

(10) NEVER DEEP-FRY WITHOUT TEMPERATURE MONITORING AND CONTROLS.

(11) NEVER LET PETS IN A KITCHEN.

This will prevent 99.999% of Kitchen fires.

For the other house fires:

(1) NEVER OVERLOAD Electrical outlets.

(2) NEVER USE REPLACEMENT FUSES LARGER THAN THE CORRECT VALUE.

(3) NEVER PLUG APPLIANCES IN OUTLETS WITHOUT 3-Prong GROUNDS.

(4) NEVER LEAVE ANY APPLIANCE OR DEVICE PLUGGED IN AND UNATTENDED.

(5) NEVER LET SMALL CHILDREN OPERATE APPLIANCES OR POWER TOOLS.

(6) NEVER LEAVE AN ELECTRIC HEATER PLUGGED IN AND UNATTENDED.

(7) NEVER LEAVE AN ELECTRIC HEATER PLUGGED IN WITH PETS PRESENT.

This will prevent 99.999999% of all accidental fires.

To prevent deliberate fires, use a handgun.

To prevent other accidental deaths,

NEVER USE A GAS HEATER OR FUEL-HEATER INDOORS.

NEVER LEAVE CAR RUNNING INSIDE A GARAGE.
