They might "study" presidencies, but they are giving an opinion based on what they would have wanted the presidents to do. Considering many of today's historians are products of today's universities, and today's universities are far and away populated by lefties who vote overwhelmingly democrat.
If you are going to compare Trump's presidency to that of Washington or Lincoln, the only valid comparison that could be made is after 222 years and 156 years respectively.

Several officials from the Greenville County Republican Party left their positions after criticism from outspoken Trump-supporters.
I would be happy to get someone more stable than Trump, but I think his instability allowed him to do some good things others would be hesitant to do. Abbott has shown some promise, but only after a slow start. DeSantis looks better imo, but I'm not sure where he stands on abortion. I do prefer those that have been governors or solid businessmen instead of just congressmen or senators (2 recent, obvious examples come to mind on how much damage they can do, despite one being #10).
I don't follow the Trump story very closely anymore, but I find that I really like Abbott, I really like DeSantis, I really like Crenshaw, I really like Stefanik, etc.
