I remember the Santa Ana winds when we lived in SoCal. My son was so little then, I was afraid to go out side with him because he might get blown away.

It's been pretty windy but you don't get the full effect until you go up into the mountains where those winds are incredible. You can imagine how they'd propel a wildfire - it would be hellish to be in the way of one of those freight trains. Where I'm at it just makes for a nice but very, very dry day.

We were in Anaheim in 2003 and 4 and there was a wild fire at the time the winds came through. The winds brought the ashes from the fire and covered everything outside for days. The kids thought it was snowing.
