Hi and is in verse 18 !!

dan p

Your right.

So why did he need to get up to be baptized? In ch. 22, why was he the delay? It's clearly a water baptism.

16Now why do you delay? Get up and be baptized, and wash away your sins, calling on His name.'

Just as Jesus said, baptize the believers.

If that's the case then why would Paul ask this question?
Acts 19:2 He said to them, "Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed?"

When he finds out they didn't even know about the Holy Spirit, what does he question? Were they taught the gospel? Did they really believe? No, he questions their baptism. Why would he question their baptism?

3And he said, "Into what then were you baptized?" And they said, "Into John's baptism."

So would you rather be water baptized or Spirit baptized?

Hi and here is how Acts 9:18 reads , And immediately scales , as it were , had fallen off his eyes , and he recovered sight INSTANTLY and having stood up he was BAPTIZED !!

Verse 17 tells all WHAT his Baptizo is all about , FULL OF HOLY SPIRIT and as he stood up in verse 17 ( and be full of Holy Spirit )

And having INSTANTLY , INSTANTLY , INSTANTLY , stood up PAUL was BAPTIZED !!

pAUL WAS NEVER Water Baptized !!:bang::bang:

So would you rather be water baptized or Spirit baptized?

The way I understand it, they work together. I believe that's why Paul asked "into what were you baptized" when he found out they hadn't even heard of the Holy Spirit. He went straight to baptism. Water and Spirit is seen throughout the NT.

John 3:5 Jesus answered, "Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.

Acts 2:38 Peter said to them, "Repent, and each of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins; and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

1 Jn. 5:7 For there are three that testify: 8 the Spirit and the water and the blood; and the three are in agreement.

So Paul didn't water baptize these Gentiles?
Acts 16:32 And they spoke the word of the Lord to him together with all who were in his house. 33 And he took them that very hour of the night and washed their wounds, and immediately he was baptized, he and all his household.
Not in Acts 19!

You think that you can just pull any old verse out of the Bible and "prove" your point.

Is Paul talking about water baptism here?
1 Cor. 1:13 Has Christ been divided? Paul was not crucified for you, was he? Or were you baptized in the name of Paul?

Or here?
1 Cor. 10:1 For I do not want you to be unaware, brethren, that our fathers were all under the cloud and all passed through the sea; 2 and all were baptized into Moses in the cloud and in the sea;

Or here?
Acts 18:8 Crispus, the leader of the synagogue, believed in the Lord with all his household, and many of the Corinthians when they heard were believing and being baptized.

If the Holy Spirit does the baptizing, why would Paul ask this question?
Acts 19:2 He said to them, "Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed?"

It's called PROGRESSIVE REVELATION.

God gave Paul more and different instructions as TIME went by.

It's really not too hard to understand. God has been revealing His will progressively throughout human history as documented in His Bible.

If that's how you want to sell it. That doesn't explain why he baptized on his second and third journeys.

Obviously our differences are too much to work out over a forum, but I do appreciate your time.

You probably think that circumcision is still required as well. Or maybe you think that water took the place of it.

Neither. Bible says circumcision was a sign but doesn't tell us baptism is a sign.
Rom. 4:11 and he received the sign of circumcision, a seal of the righteousness of the faith which he had while uncircumcised,

Bible says baptism is how we are buried with Christ into death.
Rom. 6:3 Or do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus have been baptized into His death? 4 Therefore we have been buried with Him through baptism into death

Baptism is how we are added to Christ.
Gal. 3:27 For all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ.

Just as those on Pentecost.
41So then, those who had received his word were baptized; and that day there were added about three thousand souls.

Acts 19:2 He said to them, "Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed?"[/I]

Hi and all should know that there is a difference between the " THE HOLY SPIRIT " which uses the Greek Article " THE " which speaks to the Indwelling of the Person of the Holy Spirit !!

When the the phrase is " HOLY SPIRIT " without the Greek Article " THE " it speaks about the POWER OF THE HOLY SPIRIT " as in Pentecost and in Acts 19:2 and when Paul BAPTIZED THOSE 12 DISCIPLES they spake in Tongues and were Prophesying as those on the Day of PENTECOST because they were not there for PENTECOST , do you understand NOW ??

Baptism of the Spirit is what places us in Christ. Water has nothing to do with it. Think about it before you answer.

Ephesians 4:4-6 New King James Version (NKJV)

4 There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called in one hope of your calling;
5 one Lord, one faith, one baptism;
6 one God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.

Why do you refuse water baptism?

Mat 28:19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
Mat 28:20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.
