It is a central tenet of Christianity that hinges upon Jesus' words during the last supper, of which the four canonical Gospels and the First Epistle to the Corinthians provide us with an account. Only the Gospel of Matthew states that Jesus sacrifice was for the forgiveness of sins.
If it had been of such importance, then Paul would have mentioned it in the First Epistle to the Corinthians, but he did not. And it is the oldest source, written by someone who was involved with Christianity very early on. The other Gospels do not mention it either.
So, does anyone here have any thoughts on this issue? Did I overlook something?
