Deeply concerning effects of alcohol on the brain

How can you teach that in light of the wedding at Cana Marke?

Jesus made booze!

What are the kids going to think when they read about this story in John's Gospel?
God encouraged abstinence and Jesus made wine. Both are true. The host at the wedding said Jesus' wine was better than the hard stuff they were drinking before Jesus gave them something better than fermented wine to drink.

Habakkuk 2:15
Woe unto him that giveth his neighbour drink, that puttest thy bottle to him, and makest him drunken also, that thou mayest look on their nakedness!

Do you mean Jesus didn't make real wine? The text doesn't indicate anywhere that the wine Jesus made wasn't real, "hard" wine.

That's obviously what was not happening at the wedding in Cana though. It was a wedding, and people weren't naked.

I used to mix a 'pony can' of "light" beer (actually it was strong 4% beer but in the US 4% beer is called "light" beer) in with a can of non-alcoholic beer. Total 12 + 8 = 20 ounces. About 1.7% ABV. It wasn't bad, but it was still too much alcohol for me.

Interesting that Paul writes " ... be not drunk with wine..." to the Ephesians (5:18) but to their bishop he writes "...a little wine..." (1Ti5:23). It's almost like behind their back. Except the Church published both the letter to the congregation (church) at Ephesus, and two letters to their bishop (pastor). So we got a nice rounded picture of what it was like to be a Christian during the Apostolic age, just in comparing Ephesians with 1st and 2nd Timothy. Pretty neat.
Bump.
