Lawyers ... not just for criminals anymore.
To add to anna, because no innocent man was ever convicted, let alone charged.
Civil suits cover everything from slip and falls, actions for trespass and border disputes to debt.
Governments like the men they serve and represent, are imperfect. But to say they're a hindrance is too broad, like suggesting laws are a hindrance to justice.
Which would be great if people always got judgment right. But...supra.
And the elements that thwart or accomplish it are important.

They mostly aren't and for a number of reasons we can get into if you like.

That's not his job. That's another thing you (and many laymen) don't understand about the law and those whose job is to serve the Court and the administration of justice. The defense attorney's job is to protect his client's rights and to present a vigorous rebuttal to the state on behalf of a client who is clothed in the presumption of innocence. The state, with its considerably more impressive resource base has the job of making the case to overcome that. If the state does its job and the defense attorney does his then justice is usually served....He was just doing his job when he worked so hard to get a murdering rapist out on the streets again.
By and large prosecutors advance reasonably solid cases and most of those don't even have to go to trial.

To any still concerned: the lawyer did the same job he'd do for you or your son or daughter were they accused of something by the state. Accused and presumed innocent absent a trial on the merits and a verdict.

Which, the prosecutor? The defense attorney? It's interesting how little attention the prosecutorial wing is getting.
You're saying he made a living as a pervert or you're trying to link the lawyer and the pervert more closely by misusing the term. Either way it's wrong.
That's true and tragic.
And this is the equal of the job bit. There's no reason to believe the lawyer in question is less than saddened by the turn of events. To suggest his only consideration was financial and that he'd be happy is unsupported by human nature and any known fact.
No one has suggested the outcome was just, liberal or otherwise.
Justice would have entailed a trial and a verdict.
