In spite of poor CDC tracking of debilitating side effects from the covid vaccine the fact of mere thousands of badly affected individuals rather than millions of infected individuals is nothing to rejoice over.
What's sad about it is that the virus is hospitalizing and killing large numbers of people. Yes, those who survive have good immunity, but what is sad is the large numbers of people who are made very ill, some with "long covid," and the numbers of dead and dying are in the millions. But the vaccines can provide good immunity without hospitalization and death. Are the vaccines hospitalizing and killing large numbers of people? Those numbers are a running total of "medical events that have been observed following the administration of the COVID-19 vaccines, but which are not necessarily related to or caused by the vaccine.
