Another 5 years of the Tories

The real question is why does the working class continue to elect these people?

We do the same thing here in the U.S.,. The republicans in this country do nothing but serve the rich at the expense of everyone else, and yet the very people who are getting screwed because of it just keep re-electing them. Idiocy reigns, and the thieves in power know it. So they just do as they please.

Because some of us who belong to the 'working class' acknowledge we have a massive national debt to pay off and feel the Conservative party are the only party to really be focusing on trying to do that.

The most disturbing thing for me about this whole election is the result in Scotland. I can't believe that so many Scots voted for the SNP, giving them half the vote and nearly all of the seats. The SNP is both dangerous and divisive, and all it will do is drive a further wedge between the Scots and the English. I fear that nationalistic sentiment will increase on both sides of the border.

What's driving the Scots to split from the UK?

All British workers are sick to death of Conservative politics, Labour just do not present an alternative. In Scotland the Scottish Nationalist do present an alternative....end the austerity.

have you tried unions
the pay is good
you can't get fired
the pensions will break the bank
but
that is okay
they can always borrow more money

If the UK leaves the EU, and Scotland leaves the UK, what happens when Scotland joins the EU?

Indeed, 50% of the votes got over 90% of the seats. Something's not quite right with British 'democracy'!

It's actually just like American Democracy in that regard. First-past-the-post leads to pretty lopsided results like that, although this vote was more competitive in terms of the number of serious parties than most.

It kinda looks like the SNP cannibalized the previous Lib Dem voters. So the dissatisfaction with them may be partly to blame.

They believe everything the box tells them....the media in the UK is totally biased
Here, too. Keep in mind that the media makes it's money selling advertising medium to wealthy corporate clients, so they are naturally not going to want to do or say anything that might threaten those wealthy clients.

We think the media is there to serve us, especially at news time, but in fact, it's there to serve the wealthy corporate clients that pay them to proselytize mass consumption.

Here in the U.S., it's the "conservative party" that created the gigantic national debt, and now they're busy blaming in on the other side, and trying to make the poor and the working class pay for it all.

Sound familiar?

US and UK unions are different with different histories...US unions were born out of corruption.

Scotland is a lot more liberal than England, but England dominates the Union due to its population. Sometime back, Scotland was granted its own parliament, which had limited powers "devolved" from the central parliament, and the movement for independence has been gaining steam as a desire to control more and more of their own government grows.

Yep that is it, the Con Dems have been saying for 5 years that the global bankers crash was the result of Labour spending too much, we had 11 years of unprecedented prosperity under Labour, building hospitals and schools reinforcing the police and halving crime. Introducing the minimum wage making winter fuel payments to pensioners.

Getting the public services back to a reasonable state after the previous Tory mob [Thatcher].

Now on the back of this narrative that this is what caused Britain's present financial mess even though everyone knows it was the bankers, the Tories have been slashing public spending like they always do.

Everything will be third world class in another 5 years.

And just think: now they can govern in the majority without a coalition.

This does sound exactly like the state the US is in. Except substitute Reagan for Thatcher.

The problem is it takes about 10 years before people wake up to it and suddenly realise all their public services have gone...they call it small government.
