Congress runs up debt. The president just signs it. Here are the facts. Notice that the only times more than a trillion dollars a year was added to the national debt in the 20-year span given was 6 times under Obama.

Also, you neglected to mention that Trump was only in office for 4 years, whereas Obama was president for 8 years, and Trump's deficits during his 1 term in office add up to more than half of Obama's 2-term deficits.

Republicans always oppose spending when a Democrat is in the White House. Then when a Republican is in the White House, Republican spending goes through the roof.
Republicans only oppose spending when there is a Democrat in the White House because they don't want a Democratic president to be able to take credit for doing anything good--like the much needed rebuilding the nation's infrastructure, for example. Trump could have done that while he was president like he promised he would during the 2016 campaign, but he chose not to bother with that while still driving the deficit to historic highs during his tenure.
Republicans are absolute frauds when it comes to deficit spending, just as they are absolute frauds when it comes to opposing abortion.
You are mistaken. Democrats have fought republicans many times over the years over efforts to raise the debt ceiling. The fight over raising the debt ceiling has always been republicans fighting democrat efforts to raise the ceiling. If there is a war in Congress over raising the debt ceiling, it is always republicans trying to keep democrats from raising the ceiling again, just as in this latest case.
