Not sure. I believe in making sure they have reliable evidence. Have executions really deterred murder. A number of these people have mental problems. Some have even committed suicide after their crime.

I remember when DNA was beginning to be used for evidence for crimes. A 190 people on death row since 1973 were cleared. Need to be sure to have correct evidence for a death penalty.

John tells us that “I baptize you with water for repentance. But after me comes one who is more powerful than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire" (Mt. 3:11). Some see that "fire" as like a refiner's fire cleansing us.

Also John was taken prisoner by King Herod and later beheaded.

The baptism of Jesus seemed to be the beginning of His ministry. For when Jesus arose the Father declared Jesus to be His Son. It also appears to be the beginning of the end of John the baptist ministry.

I see as the beginning of Jesus' ministry and an ending to John's ministry. Jesus was sinless, but when John baptised Him God announced Jesus as “This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased.”

I worked at a restaurant after I graduated from high school in 1969. Paid my way in Junior College. Then did 20 active years in the Navy and went go a small university.
