Can a Christian lose their salvation

True, emphesis on the "if". A sin would show I was lying about having been "in Christ", reborn, repentant, or a believer. I am capable of doing what I want, and thankfully, I want to please God. I could at any time make my conversion of no repute. But because I am born of God's seed, I won't do...

Can a Christian lose their salvation

What you view as a contradiction I see as two different subjects. Those reborn of God's seed cannot bring forth the devil's fruit. No matter what religion men subscribe to, the seed from which they are born or reborn of can only bring forth after its own kind. A man professing Christianity must...

Can a Christian lose their salvation

If they "fall away" they were posers. Never really "in Christ Jesus". Just going through he motions by their own power. Better said would be..."Manifested that they were fake Christians". By appearances, they fell away. In reality they were never "out of the flesh".

Can a Christian lose their salvation

That's right. What I think of myself now may be proved wrong by sin tomorrow. If I truly am "in Christ", I won't change back to being a child of the devil. But if I am a poser, I could undo my conversion at any time. Right now I could think I was doing OK. But unless I "do OK" until my, or, the...

Can a Christian lose their salvation

You are saying that sin comes from those in Christ. I can't agree, as there is no darkness in God. (1 John 1:5) Those walking in God don't waver. They can't bring forth the devil's fruit, as they are born of God's seed. We call them "posers", pretenders. Were they actually walking in God...

Can a Christian lose their salvation

If they committed a sin, they were children of the devil, and not of God. Supra. "He that loveth his brother abideth in the light, and there is none occasion of stumbling in him." (1 John 2:10)

Can a Christian lose their salvation

My salvation , and Paul's, is dependent on the final judgement. Paul wrote..."For we are saved by hope: but hope that is seen is not hope: for what a man seeth, why doth he yet hope for? But if we hope for that we see not, then do we with patience wait for it." (Rom 8:24-25) What are you hoping...

Can a Christian lose their salvation

If they sin, they have already been erased. By walking in the light, there is no stumbling. Only a true turn from sin and baptism in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of past sins can cause their conversion and eventual salvation. Continued sin, or as you metaphorically call...

Can a Christian lose their salvation

Thanks be to God for rebirth...eh ? All the original fleeing Jews died in the desert. Why ? Thanks be to God for that..eh ? You really should check the context of John 10.

Can a Christian lose their salvation

God has changed His mind on occasion. But I wouldn't really call that a "misstep". Do you think Jesus died so we wouldn't ever trip on a curb ? He died so we could conquer temptation, like He did. In that way we can be as perfect as God is perfect. Do you think Jesus commands the impossible ?

Can a Christian lose their salvation

Sinners don't believe God. He said He will cast sinners into the lake of fire for their sins, but they continue to sin anyway.

Can a Christian lose their salvation

I can only judge that Elijah followed the Lord 100% of the time from the events of his being taken into heaven. As the wages of sin is death, and he didn't die, it stands to reason that Elijah didn't commit sin.

Can a Christian lose their salvation

Sure I do. But I won't have my name erased from the book of life for tripping on the sidewalk.

Can a Christian lose their salvation

My point is that only a few could "follow God" 100% of the time before the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Enoch, Elijah, and John the Baptist being among the few. Since Jesus' resurrection, we all can "follow God" perfectly

There were times when they were not following God.

Can a Christian lose their salvation

If they quit robbing and stealing they can follow God. Oh really ? Only on occasion. As robbers and thieves don't "follow God", their "following" must have been before, or perhaps after, their days of robbery and thievery. Remember though, that this started from posts #193-194 where we were...

Can a Christian lose their salvation

They were all sinners. They all walked in the flesh. Walking in the Spirit, due to rebirth from God's seed, was not yet availble.

Can a Christian lose their salvation

Who were following God ? Sure. Mary's cousin and cousin-in-law were: Elisabeth and Zacharias. Simeon and Anna at the temple when Jesus was circumcised. John the Baptist. And who knows how many others during the centuries before Jesus was born. Heb. 11 gives some of the names.
