can you show where 1st century Christians were fighting other 1st century Christians?

or second century Christians?
Now here's the whole quote:
Muslims have been fighing muslims for as long as there have been muslims.
The same was true of Christians until Western civilization progressed enough to secularize its governments and call a halt to the nonsense.

Catholics and Protestants made a cottage industry out of it in Europe, by way of.

I understood it, but it was a dull point. As with the effort by some to turn Christ into a crafty lawyer in the example of the woman at the well, it misses the actual point. So if it makes your heart sing I'll be the first to admit that before Christians were in a position to tear at each other, before they were empowered in their division on exegesis they didn't do what they weren't able to do. :plain: For quite a while the struggle was to survive persecution, then to spread a largely unified vision. Eventually enough time passed and power amassed. Once Christianity rolled over Europe and separate powers could consider their differences (or Christians within a power, as in England) the killings began. And they didn't stop altogether for a very, very long time. Even after secularized governments stopped the wholesale slaughter there were Catholic/Protestant killings going on across the pond.

now, was that so difficult?

To bring you to the actual point?

the point that yorzhik was making that you were trying desperately to avoid is that islam is inherently violent, and has been from day one

What makes you assume that statement is true?

Consider some facts, attested to by both Muslim and non-Muslim primary historic sources: A mere decade after the birth of Islam in the 7th century, the jihad burst out of Arabia. In just a few decades, Muslims had permanently conquered what was then two-thirds of the Christian world. The heart of the Muslim world today—nations like Egypt, Syria, all of North Africa, Turkey and more—were, in the 7th century, the heart of Christendom.

Thereafter it was a continuous war on Christian Europe. Among other nations and territories that were attacked and/or came under Muslim domination throughout the centuries are (to give them their modern names and in no particular order): Portugal, Spain, France, Italy, Sicily, Switzerland, Austria, Hungary, Greece, Russia, Poland, Bulgaria, Ukraine, Lithuania, Romania, Albania, Serbia, Armenia, Georgia, Crete, Cyprus, Croatia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Macedonia, Belarus, Malta, Sardinia, Moldova, Slovakia, and Montenegro.

Less than three decades after the traditional date of Islam’s founding (622), three of the five original Christian centers (“sees”) founded by the apostles—in Alexandria, Antioch, and Jerusalem—were forever swallowed up by Islam; the fourth, Constantinople, valiantly resisted the Islamic onslaught for centuries, but was finally conquered in the name of Islam in 1453. Though sacked and burned by Muslims as early as 846, only distant Rome—the Vatican, fifth of the ancient Christian sees—remained unconquered.

The place that recently put down a coup?
So your idea of a laugh fest rebuttal is noting a year old attempt that was met and in short order overcome by not only the military, but by thousands of regular citizens who took to the streets to defend their government? Okay. :plain:

For everyone else, Turkey is a member of Nato, an almost entirely Muslim country that has a secular institution of government.

Seriously? You think a nation could be called peaceful after a military coup in its very recent history?

And why are we talking about Muslims for anyway?

Have you revised your definition of censorship yet? No sensible discussion can occur until you start speaking the same language as everyone else.

You don't see the U.S. either. We're 103 out of 162. But you will find a number of Muslim countries/countries with large Muslim populations situated in the peaceful side of the ledger, which remains the rebuttal.

Well, gee. Don't stop there:
It wasn't offered as an exhaustive list, only a rebuttal to the offered notion that you couldn't find a country with a large Muslim population that was also peaceful.

Seriously? You think a nation could be called peaceful after a military coup in its very recent history?
Do/don't, there are any number of other countries to take its place, as I began to note.

And why are we talking about Muslims for anyway?
You'll have to follow the conversation back if you're confused on the point.

Have you revised your definition of censorship yet?
Didn't offer one, but I've revised my position on your honesty as a debater, sadly.

Try to have peace in any western country where the Muslim population has broken 20%.
