Why the US is a republic

“I do not say that democracy has been more pernicious on the whole, and in the long run, than monarchy or aristocracy. Democracy has never been and never can be so durable as aristocracy or monarchy; but while it lasts, it is more bloody than either. Remember, democracy never lasts long. It soon wastes, exhausts, and murders itself. There never was a democracy yet that did not commit suicide. It is in vain to say that democracy is less vain, less proud, less selfish, less ambitious, or less avaricious than aristocracy or monarchy. It is not true, in fact, and nowhere appears in history. Those passions are the same in all men, under all forms of simple government, and when unchecked, produce the same effects of fraud, violence, and cruelty.” – John Adams

All of the founders studied history. They were all aware of all the other constitutional experiments undertaken in the West. When they first tried to constitute a regime that embodied the spirit of the Declaration of Independence, they eventually had to 'scrap' it because it wasn't working and it had poor prospects (read the Federalist papers for all the reasons why). Thus, our Constitution was born, with the original Articles of Confederation serving as a sort of 'first pancake' or 'throwaway pancake'.

I think our geography, with the Atlantic serving as a sort of 'moat' protecting us from European powers for a while, enabled our founders to give 'loose confederacy' a good 'college try', to ponder the results, weighing the good and the bad, the risks and the opportunities, before settling in on our current extremely strong federalist constitution instead.

It was the right choice, and John Adams would completely agree.

Is Russia a republic or a dictatorship?
This thread is about the US.

Our founding fathers made us a Republic but great efforts have been made for at least a hundred years to say we are a democracy. We have changed the eligibility standards for voting, changed the way Congress affects elections, and heard the constant drumbeat of democracy, democracy, democracy until the common man is so confused about our form of government that he now believes we are. What's worse is that we have followed that misinformation/lie so closely that we have ended up in the same place all democracies have always ended. We are committing national suicide with massive fraud, violence and cruelty.

Fraud is dishonesty and the evidence of this in our society is unmistakable. Nobody trusts anyone else any more. That is the only result possible when dishonesty is the national code of conduct. Violence is everywhere and it comes out of fraud. We have a "justice" system promoting it on a daily basis by not upholding the rule of law for all.

Cruelty is rife. Old people getting beaten up by gangs of kids and younger adults is a daily occurrence. Cruelty is expressed in many ways and one of the fashionable forms of cruelty today is to subject kids to sexual abuse, ruin their lives, and say the people who do it to them are "normal" and must be protected.

To commit national suicide there has to be a high level of insanity in the majority of the population. By that I mean a refusal to believe objective truth. That is at pandemic levels in our society today. We have a sizeable portion of our population that outright rejects scripture and scripture is the only sure foundation of reality. God is real and God rules the universe. To ignore Him and His principles of life is to ignore reality and destroy ourselves and only by ignoring Him have we ended up in a society filled with fraud, violence and cruelty.

And literally every single one of the things you mentioned just happens to support the Democratic party.

And yet you and yours, all those here who refuse to take a side in Democrats against Republicans ("libertarians" I'm looking at you 😉), are just letting this happen. Republicans are literally the party opposed to all those things you enumerated in your own post! You're a REPUBLICAN, you're not "an independent." Unless I miss my guess you NEVER vote Democrat, do you? You're a Republican.
What's worse is that we have followed that misinformation/lie so closely that we have ended up in the same place all democracies have always ended. We are committing national suicide with massive fraud, violence and cruelty.
And this is just Republican electioneering rhetoric, because it's only aimed at one party, you're even unwittingly a Republican. Just accept it and get on board on the train.

Our justice system upholds the rule of law. The Constitution gives the absolute power to legislators to impeach any President, and any Supreme Court justice.

Again, this is a Democratic party issue. You don't support this, and Republicans don't support this. "What's wrong with parents these days?" is our party's motto.

God is real, and He built a Church for us.
