I used to live in Rochester, that little blue speck on the southern shore of Lake Ontario. Rochester - murder capital of upstate New York. Murder rate of 16 per 100000.
In the tri-county area where I currently live, the murder rate is less than 2.
If you can't figure out what that means from the regular headlines coming out of the cities I mentioned I can't explain it to you.
Where I live murder is a very infrequent occurrence, and that's with the majority of the county owning firearms. We just don't kill each other very often. The last "gun battle" we had was between a husband and a boyfriend of a woman who loved to watch men fight over her. She lost out though. The men made up after their fight and she ended up alone.
