I don't think there is any reason, or any law that maintains that the actions of the Supreme Court and the reasoning upon which they base those actions should be kept secret.
It was ony a "leak" because this court was trying to hide it. Or rather some members of the court were. I would not be surprised to find out another member of court had the information "leaked". And rightly so, as the Supreme Court has no business acting under a cloak of secrecy.

The same reason jury deliberations are kept secret. To avoid attempts to influence decisions from outside actors, actors who are not part of the court/trial process.
They weren't trying to "hide it". They were doing their job which was considering the evidence presented in the trial and deliberating on it just as a jury would.

The demonstrations sparked a response Monday from the White House that justices shouldn’t have to worry about their “personal safety.”
“President Joe Biden strongly believes in the Constitutional right to protest,” press secretary Jen Psaki said in a Twitter post. “But that should never include violence, threats, or vandalism. Judges perform an incredibly important function in our society, and they must be able to do their jobs without concern for their personal safety.”
Republicans had accused the administration of not condemning violent threats after Psaki’s initial response to protests taking place at the justices’ homes.
“These activists posted a map with the home addresses of the Supreme Court justices. Is that the kind of thing this president wants to help your side make their point?” Fox News reporter Peter Doocy asked during her daily press briefing May 5.
“I think the president’s view is that there’s a lot of passion, a lot of fear, a lot of sadness from many, many people across this country about what they saw in that leaked document,” Psaki responded. “We obviously want people’s privacy to be respected. We want people to protest peacefully if they want to protest. That is certainly what the president’s view would be.”

Rob Schenck has written a letter to Chief Justice John Roberts informing him that Justice Samuel Alito leaked the outcome of a critical 2014 Supreme Court ruling that gifted corporations with religious rights and allowed them to deny health care to employees. The revelation of Alito’s leak in that case adds weight to the likelihood that he also leaked the draft text of the decision destroying the right to abortion under Roe v. Wade.
Schenck is an evangelical minister and author who was told in advance about the decision in Burwell v. Hobby Lobby after a friend of his dined with Alito. According to the letter, after learning of the pending ruling, Schenk was able to use the information to prepare material and statements in advance for when that ruling was announced. He even contacted the Green family, owners of Hobby Lobby, before the ruling was released, to let them know how it was going to go.

Wouldn’t be surprised at all if Alito leaked Dobbs.
If a clerk had leaked the abortion draft decision we would have already seen that clerk exposed and fired. Why has nobody been exposed or fired? Obviously, because the clerk is not the leaker or there is pressure from somewhere to never leak the name of the leaker.
It's all guesswork at this point. What if a preacher said Ginsburg was the leaker? Should we believe every whistleblower who comes along who happens to be claiming to be speaking for God?
