Pretty sure blackmail is a very Trumpian thing to do. If there was dirt to be had on McConnell, Trump would certainly have found it and used it to his advantage.
I wouldn't be surprised if both sides have dirt on McConnell.
Then it should be a draw. But this isn't the case.
The fact of the matter is that McConnell is a very savvy politician. He plays the game to his own advantage, not to Trump's or anyone else's. He can read the writing on the wall, and it says that Trump's day is passed. That being the case, McConnell is more than happy to shank Trump along with the rest of them.
If the situation were different, and McConnell suspected that Trump's star would rise again, he would still be Trump's lapdog, as he was when Trump was still in office. It's really just as simple as that.
