Emmet Flood, the White House attorney dealing with the Russia probe, was present at a controversial DOJ meeting about the investigation.

WASHINGTON ― Top congressional lawmakers and a White House attorney met with Justice Department officials on Thursday to discuss classified information about an FBI informant involved in the investigation into Russia’s alleged meddling in the 2016 election. Democrats have denounced the sit-down as inappropriate and contrary to the rule of law.

Republicans had requested the information for weeks, issuing a subpoena and warning top DOJ officials that if they refused they would hold them contempt of Congress.

Emmet Flood, the White House attorney dealing with the Russia investigation, attended part of the classified briefing and was spotted leaving the DOJ headquarters alongside House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.), House Intelligence Committee Chair Devin Nunes (R-Calif.), Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-S.C.), and White House chief of staff John Kelly. None of the men took questions from a contingent of reporters standing watch.

This is, it seems the first time that the DOJ permitted a subject of an investigation to send his lawyer to attend a meeting about the investigation.

Fake news. He didn't attend the meeting.
He addressed the meeting before it convened.
To inform the committee President Trump wanted "full transparency".

Something the Dems don't want.

Facts really do matter.

White House press secretary Sarah Sanders said Flood and Kelly were there to "facilitate meetings" between the Justice Department officials and Congress and that both men left the meetings "after making brief comments."

Nice try, though.

Typical Dem tactics, and why they are called "Fake News". Partial quotes....leaving SARAH's whole quote behind like it had never been said. But, it was said, and it speaks volumes about the fake news..

"Neither Chief Kelly nor Mr. Flood actually attended the meetings but did make brief remarks before the meetings started to relay the President's desire for as much openness as possible under the law," Sanders said. "They also conveyed the President's understanding of the need to protect human intelligence services and the importance of communication between the branches of government."

We sure wouldn't want them to be able to CLARIFY their remarks, would we? :rotfl:

I've never known Trump to be unable to express his own views himself. Why now?

He's been saying it all along. This was merely a REMINDER to both sides in attendance, so the Dems could not get away with claiming otherwise.

Again I ask; why did he need criminal lawyers to address a classified DOJ meeting (that was initially closed to all dems) to do what his attorney spokesman Giuliani could have done with a memo?

Secondly; How could that possibly convince his detractors of anything that couldn't have been just as easily accomplished with a tweet? Could you clarify that?

John Kelly is the Chief of Staff, and Emmett Flood is a lawyer with extensive experience in political investigations.....having clerked for Justice Scalia, he will have great insight into constitutional issues that may arise.

You're kidding, right? Those Dems don't take anything Trump says in his tweets seriously, and they would undoubtedly claim as much. Mr. Flood has quite a reputation....he is never taken lightly.

Actually, no I'm not. I'm trying to get clarity on your previous assertion.

This was merely a REMINDER to both sides in attendance, so the Dems could not get away with claiming otherwise.

How does this prevent dems from forming their own conclusions anyway?

Bill Maher nails it here:

He sure does. And aiding and abetting the crisis of a president doing whatever he wants regardless of the rule of law are the GOP Trump Party and Trump's willfully blind base - the Trump Party busy making sure the crisis doesn't go to waste and Trump's base cheering him on in the middle of 5th ave.

"We're on the honor system and the Republicans are fresh out of honor."

"... John Adams had it right... 'There is nothing which I dread so much as division of the republic into two great parties...' but that's what happened. And even the founders couldn't foresee our current level of tribalism, where half of us would hear laurel and half would hear yanny."
