On the U.S. side, the Trump administration proposed tariffs of 25 percent on 1,300 goods imported from China worth roughly $50 billion as punishment for the country’s policies on technology transfer and intellectual property.
On the China side, vowed a 25-percent duty at 106 products with a value of $50 billion.
Now the U.S. is proposing $100 billion.

Deep rabbit hole here, be warned...there's been update posts since this one but it purports to explain the true reason behind so much Republican obstructionism to Trump's America First agenda. If you read it, it's quite depressing.

Here is a very good video on this subject. Gerald Celente is a very successful financial analyst and a democrat. In this video he defends Trump's actions and excoriates the people responsible for putting us in this situation. This video is well worth the time to watch. If you think the approximately 30 minutes is too long watch the first 8 minutes and odds are you will watch the rest of it, unless of course, your user name is AB, Barby, Rusha, etc.... They're the ones who need to watch it the most, but they will be the last ones to watch it.
Just found this article on Breitbart. Emporer Xi of China has just backed down on some of the tariffs the Chinese have been putting on US products. Everything that has been said so far about Trump's supposed lunacy in imposing tariffs against those nations who have been stealing the US blind on trade is being proven to be nothing but lies. But, this is the norm. The mockingbird media trumpets the lies and fools who believe everything they say repeat them.

There is a reason Trump now has an approval rating of over 50% despite non-stop attacks in the mockingbird media for the entire time he's been in office. He's doing the right thing for this country and people are realizing both this and that the mockingbird media is nothing but wall-to-wall lies. CNN's viewership is now down to less than a million. Think about this. An established network has so damaged itself by its constant lying that in a country of more than 330 million people they can claim viewership of less than .3% of the population. Yet to listen to the marxist trolls on this site CNN is the name to listen to for reliable news.
