Under the opening of the first seal in Revelation 6 we are introduced to a rider seated upon a white horse, 'And I saw, and behold a white horse: and he that sat on him had a bow; and a crown was given unto him: and he went forth conquering, and to conquer' v. 2. The triumphs of the a gospel in the first century of the Christian dispensation are represented under this figure. The whiteness of the horse represent the purity of the faith in that age while the crown given to the rider and his going forth to conquer and make still further conquests signify the zeal and success which attended the promulgation of the truth by its earliest ministers.
