All days are God's. All trees are God's. It doesn't matter what 'days' or 'trees' mean to a pagan or heathen. It matters what it means to me, and it means God:
Psalm 118:24
It's always funny how these people seem to think they're informing everybody of, as if, some newly discovered danger of swallowing a gnat every Christmas season, and they will arrive for Easter, like clockwork, with legalistic implications Jesus only saves, to the extent you agree with Ebenezer Scrooge or shelter your children from hard boiled eggs.
It's stealth legalism, antichristian in terms of trying to diminish grace: what's worse than pagan is trying to ensnare people in false doctrines, in the name of Christ. You see a lot of error on message boards, people trying to inject works and legal bondages into salvation. A lot of them are really the unrepentant (that is if they're not just deceivers or trolls) who hate grace, feel the need for control and to control, need to think they're somebody in God's eye for who they are, what they do or don't do, just like the Scribes and Pharisees, whom the Lord Jesus characterized as from hell.
You'll find striking, real parallels between legalists and people with narcissistic personality disorders, which is many, many people. I believe legalism is just a symptom of those who've not replaced self with the Lord, again, unrepentance, don't really agree with God where they stand, absent the righteousness of Christ: they deign God needs their help.
Anyway, Merry Christmas, all! You who think it pagan, well, maybe that's because there's something pagan about you?
Luke 18
9 And he spake this parable unto certain which trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and despised others:
10 Two men went up into the temple to pray; the one a Pharisee, and the other a publican.
11 The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank thee, that I am not as other men are, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican.
12 I fast twice in the week, I give tithes of all that I possess.
13 And the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner.
14 I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other: for every one that exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.
Galatians 2
4 And that because of false brethren unawares brought in, who came in privily to spy out our liberty which we have in Christ Jesus, that they might bring us into bondage:
5 To whom we gave place by subjection, no, not for an hour; that the truth of the gospel might continue with you.
Romans 14
4 Who art thou that judgest another man's servant? to his own master he standeth or falleth. Yea, he shall be holden up: for God is able to make him stand.
5 One man esteemeth one day above another: another esteemeth every day alike. Let every man be fully persuaded in his own mind.
6 He that regardeth the day, regardeth it unto the Lord; and he that regardeth not the day, to the Lord he doth not regard it. He that eateth, eateth to the Lord, for he giveth God thanks; and he that eateth not, to the Lord he eateth not, and giveth God thanks.
7 For none of us liveth to himself, and no man dieth to himself.
P.S. Notice how it's even "shocking" in the title. Really? They show up every Christmas season, like a bad penny, with the same worn information everybody already knows since Constantine, and that's shocking?
