The Imputed Righteousness of Christ Refutes Religion

The only two things that are imputed in the bible are sin and righteousness. There is nothing in the Bible about faith being imputed to anyone. Faith is not imputed because faith is natural human attribute that we are all born with. Everyone has the ability to have faith in someone or something.

IMPUTE: To attribute to a person or to charge.

The word "Impute" suggest that the imputing comes from outside of them. An example would be that if a person is found guilty of a crime, the crime would be imputed to them or they would be charged with the crime.

When a person comes to Christ as a repentant sinner to be saved by him, God seals that person with the Holy Spirit, Ephesians 1:13 and places them spiritually "In Christ". The righteousness of Christ is imputed to their account. They don't have it yet. As long as they are in their Adamic bodies they only have the first fruits or the down payment of the Holy Spirit, Romans 8:23.

Catholics and others, believe that they are infused with the righteousness of Christ. The word "infused" does not appear anywhere in the Bible. We are not infused with anything. If we were infused with the righteousness of Christ then the incarnation of Jesus Christ was useless and is a sham. This is another anti-Gospel Catholic doctrine.

Paul wrote speaking of Abraham, "And being fully persuaded that, what he (God) had promised, he was able to perform and therefore it was IMPUTED to him for righteousness. Now it was not written for his sake alone, that it was imputed to him, but for us also to whom it shall be imputed, if we believe on him that raised Jesus from the dead; who was delivered for our offenses and was raised again for our justification" Romans 4:21-25.

The Christian receives all that there is to receive the minute that he believes and professes faith in Christ and his Gospel. Spiritually, he receives the righteousness of Christ, Romans 4:6, The first fruits of the Holy Spirit, Romans 8:23, justification, Romans 5:1, reconciliation with God, 2 Corinthians 5:18, Sanctification in Christ, 1 Corinthians 1:30. God now sees the believer as perfect and complete in Christ, Colossians 2:10. He cannot make himself any better than what he is "In Christ". This is why works do NOT count for righteousness, Romans 4:5.

We are still called to live righteous lives. See Romans 6.

We are still called to live righteous lives. See Romans 6.

We are called to be witnesses for Christ and his Gospel.

We do that by the way that we live and treat others. The Gospel calls for holy living. If you are NOT living it, then keep it a secret that you are a Christian.

I have no reason to keep anything a secret, including that I am a Christian. I am only pointing out that we should all live righteous lives.

Living a righteous life will not bring you salvation, nor will it justify you.

We live righteous lives for the sake of Christ and his Gospel.

Amen.

Do you believe that living a righteous life is different from imputed righteousness?

Good point, and Jesus said faith is one of the weightier matters of the law. (Matthew 23:23) However, The Father's firstborn son (Israel) lacked faith in the gospel so God will make a new covenant with them.

The Christians righteousness is in heaven at the right hand of God. He doesn't have any righteousness. Maybe the righteousness of man. He does have the Holy Spirit which sets him apart from the lost.

No more covenants. Jesus is the end of all covenants. God has reconciled ALL THINGS unto himself by Jesus Christ, Colossians 1:20. God now sees ALL THINGS in Christ.

Jesus is at the right hand of God. I believe I am called to be righteous by Christ. I believe each and every person should be righteous, not only Christians. Those who are not Christians should come to Christ to be saved from their sins and receive the free gift of eternal life.

Perhaps Christians know what true righteousness is. I was asking if you have God's righteousness apart from it being imputed, meaning you live or walk in God and Christ righteously. That you are righteous. Romans 6 says that righteousness is more than being imputed.

The Father has reconciled everyone to himself through Jesus' blood including Satan, but I'm not convinced Satan is in Christ.

The Christian lives his life before God as a sinner. Paul referred to himself as "The Chief of Sinners". 1 Timothy 1:15. And then in Romans 7:13-25, he described his struggle with sin.

There is no salvation for Satan or his demons. They will be cast into the lake of fire and destroyed, Revelation 20:10.

In 1 Timothy Paul had just said this. 1 Timothy 1:8-11 NASB.

In Romans 7:13-25 Paul speaks of the law of God in which he delights and the law of sin within his members. It has been said that Paul was speaking of himself or using himself as an example. Some debate whether he was talking about while he was saved or unsaved. Others simply that this is a part of his argument presenting the gospel of Jesus Christ. From verse 25 we can get that, and it seems this is a transition to Romans chapter 8. That is, if we read with chapters and verses (we can know simply that what Paul says next seems to indicate that he has transitioned to the glories of Christ in the gospel. Paul delights in the law. He is opposed to sin. He sees that the Law cannot make him right with God. He sees that Jesus has made us right with God. He speaks of what the Law could not do in the flesh, and what God did sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and as an offering for sin, that He condemned sin in the flesh, in order that the requirement of the Law might be fulfilled in us who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.

Paul delights in the spirit of the law. The letter brings death.

Romans 2:29 NKJV - 29 but he is a Jew who is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the Spirit, not in the letter; whose praise is not from men but from God.

Romans 7:6 NKJV - 6 But now we have been delivered from the law, having died to what we were held by, so that we should serve in the newness of the Spirit and not in the oldness of the letter.

2 Corinthians 3:6 NKJV - 6 who also made us sufficient as ministers of the new covenant, not of the letter but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.

Romans 7:22 NKJV - 22 For I delight in the law of God according to the inward man.

Romans 8:1-39 NKJV - 1 There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit. 2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death. 3 For what the law could not do in that it was weak through the flesh, God did by sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, on account of sin: He condemned sin in the flesh, 4 that the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit. 5 For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit. 6 For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. 7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God; for it is not subject to the law of God, nor indeed can be. 8 So then, those who are in the flesh cannot please God. 9 But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. Now if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he is not His. 10 And if Christ is in you, the body is dead because of sin, but the Spirit is life because of righteousness. 11 But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you. 12 Therefore, brethren, we are debtors--not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh. 13 For if you live according to the flesh you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live. 14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God. 15 For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, "Abba, Father." 16 The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, 17 and if children, then heirs--heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified together. 18 For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us. 19 For the earnest expectation of the creation eagerly waits for the revealing of the sons of God. 20 For the creation was subjected to futility, not willingly, but because of Him who subjected it in hope; 21 because the creation itself also will be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God. 22 For we know that the whole creation groans and labors with birth pangs together until now. 23 Not only that, but we also who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, eagerly waiting for the adoption, the redemption of our body. 24 For we were saved in this hope, but hope that is seen is not hope; for why does one still hope for what he sees? 25 But if we hope for what we do not see, we eagerly wait for it with perseverance. 26 Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. 27 Now He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He makes intercession for the saints according to the will of God. 28 And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose. 29 For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren. 30 Moreover whom He predestined, these He also called; whom He called, these He also justified; and whom He justified, these He also glorified. 31 What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? 32 He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things? 33 Who shall bring a charge against God's elect? It is God who justifies. 34 Who is he who condemns? It is Christ who died, and furthermore is also risen, who is even at the right hand of God, who also makes intercession for us. 35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? 36 As it is written: "For Your sake we are killed all day long; We are accounted as sheep for the slaughter." 37 Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. 38 For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, 39 nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
