In being a dead book simply means that, for understanding the issues of life, it is closed book to all except Christians. In particular is this true when reading, for understanding, the New Testament. For instance, in his discourses, Paul makes no distinction between Jew and Gentile in the area of salvation or his understanding of what God is after from everyone who is saved who claims the Name of Christ..
Some pseudo intellects, being set in their conceited ways, desire to segregate out parts that don't fit/aid their cult thinking. For instance, the book of Hebrews is written to only Jews and therefore, do not apply to Gentiles. That is blatantly false and against the scriptures that speak otherwise that ALL scripture is for Christians as a "handbook" for learning the ways of God, be they Jewish Christians or Gentile Christians. To understand those who strive to make fit the scriptures to the cult thinking, one needs to know from a pentecostal perspective, the baptism of Jesus Christ, that the Holy Spirit could then make known what is the wisdom that only He can provide when something doesn't 'swell' quite right written/spoken by those who seek only to persuade away from Christ and His Life required of us to embrace, for something that can never satisfy.
