When you point a camera at something, you're pointing it away from a hundred other things. When you choose what story to air, you're choosing not to air a hundred other stories.

Yes. That is true to a certain extent.

However objectivety is now being being actively discouraged to the point if a reporter pushes the truth of the matter they lose their jobs in a very short time. What you're referring to is a natural bias towards certain subjects. What is now going on is the artificial imposition of the narrative is now all pointing in one direction. Anything else is actively discouraged.
