These scriptures tell us about how salvation through Jesus was a mystery.
Notice that Peter and Paul say the same things:
1 Peter 1:10-12
Concerning this salvation, the prophets, who spoke of the grace that was to come to you, searched intently and with the greatest care, 11 trying to find out the time and circumstances to which the Spirit of Christ in them was pointing when he predicted the sufferings of the Messiah and the glories that would follow. 12 It was revealed to them that they were not serving themselves but you, when they spoke of the things that have now been told you by those who have preached the gospel to you by the Holy Spirit sent from heaven. Even angels long to look into these things.
2 Peter 1:19 And we have the word of the prophets made more certain, and you will do well to pay attention to it,
as to a light shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts.
Romans 16:25-26 Now to him who is able to establish you by my gospel and
the proclamation of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery hidden for long ages past,
but now revealed and made known through the prophetic writings by the command of the eternal God, so that all nations might believe and obey him--
Did you see that?
The mystery is what Peter taught and Paul.
It is the same mystery being preached.
Now read these scriptures.
The prophetic writings are the writings of the OLD TESTAMENT.
These next scriptures tell us about our transformation through Jesus…
1 Corinthians 4:1 So then, men ought to regard us as servants of Christ and as those entrusted with the secret things of God.
Galatians 3:19 Why, then, was the law given at all? It was added because of transgressions until the Seed to whom the promise referred had come.
Hebrews 7:11 [ Jesus Like Melchizedek ] If perfection could have been attained through the Levitical priesthood—and indeed the law given to the people established that priesthood—why was there still need for another priest to come, one in the order of Melchizedek, not in the order of Aaron?
Hebrews 7:19 (for the law made nothing perfect), and a better hope is introduced, by which we draw near to God.
Hebrews 10:14 For by one sacrifice he has made perfect forever those who are being made holy.
Hebrews 12:2 fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
James 1:25 But whoever looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues in it—not forgetting what they have heard, but doing it—they will be blessed in what they do.
1 Peter 4:5-6
But they will have to give account to him who is ready to judge the living and the dead.
For this is the reason the gospel was preached even to those who are now dead, so that they might be judged according to men in regard to the body, but live according to God in regard to the spirit.
So the one and only mystery, the gospel, was preached EVEN TO THOSE WHO WERE DEAD.
You think that Jesus didn't preach the dead the one and only gospel that saves?!
1 Corinthians 2
God’s Wisdom Revealed by the Spirit
6We do, however, speak a message of wisdom among the mature, but not the wisdom of this age or of the rulers of this age, who are coming to nothing. 7No, we declare God’s wisdom, a mystery that has been hidden and that God destined for our glory before time began. 8None of the rulers of this age understood it, for if they had, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory. 9However, as it is written:
“What no eye has seen,
what no ear has heard,
and what no human mind has conceived” —
the things God has prepared for those who love him—
10these are the things God has revealed to us by his Spirit.
Did you read that?
Jesus would not have been crucified if the rulers had UNDERSTOOD IT. That is proof that Paul and all the apostles taught what Jesus taught when Jesus walked the earth.
