Acts 2:38

38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

Did you know that repentance was primarily from false religion? On the day of Pentecost Peters audience was pretty much religious people from among the jews, I believe they were moral and respectable jewish citizens, not a bunch of drunkards and drug addicts, fornicators and thieves. No they were folk that had wrong opinions and perceptions and doctrines on how one is made right with God. When God gives them repentance that corrects their wrong thinking ! Gods repentance leads to the right doctrine. Acts 2:41-42

41 Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls.

42 And they continued stedfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers.

Hello Brother :)

What I do know is that all false religion teaches that repentance is a required work a person must do to make himself right with God, just as those jews on the day of Pentecost did. But scripture is clear that those in the flesh, unregenerate, cannot please God Rom. 8:8. So those of the three thousand who heard Peter's preaching on the day of Pentecost, were first pricked in the heart, made Spiritually Alive in New Birth.

Acts 2:37
Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do?

So first the Holy Spirit pricked their heart, made them Spiritually Alive, then they were given repentance.

Titus 3:5
Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;

Acts 5:31
Him hath God exalted with his right hand to be a Prince and a Saviour, for to give repentance to Israel, and forgiveness of sins.

The Israel that is given repentance are not only born again Jews, but also Gentiles from all the nations of the world, the Spiritual Seed of Abraham Gal. 3:16, 29: All God's Elect, His Sheep, whose sins He took upon Himself Is. 53:6 and was raised from the dead on their behalf Heb. 13:20

John 16:13
Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth [Right Doctrine]: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.

You two should know a lot about false religions because you are both in one right up to your eye brows.

There was no religion in the early church. Paul taught that "The Just Shall Live By Faith" Romans 1:17. If you are living by faith you are not living by religion.

There was no Calvinism in the early church. Calvinism is a religion. I don't know why you need Calvinism when the there is nothing about it in the New Testament. Calvinism is NOT living by faith.

Did you read the OP ? Did you understand the points made ?

You need to repent B57. It was your unbelief in Christ as the savior of the world that caused the falcons to bow down to Tom's Brady bunch.

You're not preaching the gospel, dude! Jesus came into the world to save sinners and the whole world lies in sin.

Christ came into the world to save only certain sinners: His People Mat. 1:21 Chosen in Him before the foundation Eph. 1:4, His Seed Gal. 3:16, 29, His Sheep John 10:11,15.

But not the devil's children!

Mat. 13:38-39
38 The field is the world; the good seed are the children of the kingdom; but the tares are the children of the wicked one; 39 The enemy that sowed them is the devil; the harvest is the end of the world; and the reapers are the angels.

CALVINISM: The belief that God predestinates people to hell before they are born.

WARNING: You might be better off to believe in no God at all than to blasphemy him and his Son Jesus Christ with this false doctrine.

Calvinist's see no difference between the atonement and God's election. The atonement is universal and God's election is not.

Christ shed His Blood for all His Elect predestined to the Adoption of Children / Sons, His Body Eph. 1:4-5.

All the rest, the non-elect, are the devil's children Mat. 13:38-39.

For therefore we both labour and suffer reproach, because we trust in the living God, who is the Saviour of all men, specially of those that believe. 1Tim 4:10

Savior of all men, especially of those that believe!

Being born pure of a virgin represents the infinite, eternal and unconditional salvation of God. In contrast, salvation of the personality depends on repentance from false religion, as one of many examples.

Acts 2:38

Gods repentance leads to the right doctrine. Acts 2:41-42....................

I don't think that you have got this right.
Yes, John the Baptist and (later) Jesus's disciples were baptising Jews, but not because their religion was wrong....... simply because their priesthood was wrong. Very wrong! John the Baptist described the Jewish priesthood perfectly!

For Jewish folks, to disobey any of the 613 (you no doubt do know about the 613?) was sin. Sin lead to Sickness! The only way that Jews could obtain Remission from their sins was through making sacrifice at the Great Temple. They had to trail from every part of Israel to the Temple, and those in Northern Provinces like Galilee, Gaulanitus, Trachonitus, Decapolis had to trek along the Eastern Bank of the Jordan to reach Jerusalem. They got fleeced by the local people all around Jerusalem and its suburbs for every meal, bed or service that they required.
They got fleeced at the Great Temple when converting their local currency to Tyrian-Shekels and half-shekels for head-tax, purchase of sacrificial lambs, doves etc, priest's fees, and the who business was just a corrupt disgusting money-go round.
Further to this, although you might not believe it, the Obverse side of the Tyrian Shekel sowed the Grek Pagan God Melgarth-Heracles, known to the Jews as Baal...... I know that some readers won't believe this, but it's true, and was the Temple coinage since Herod's reign and onwards up to circa 68AD. There was a Graven image on the reverse, an Eagle standing on the bow of a Tyrian ship. Pagan God and Graven image, in God's Great Temple. The Priests didn't care at all, because these coins were consistent in weight and silver purity.
Now.... there you have it, why John the Baptist, furious and in empathy for the common people, offered them remission of sins by immersion in water..... for nothing!
And Jesus felt the same way, and often mentioned that he stood for Mercy before Sacrifice, and demonstrated this clearly by his actions in the Temple during his last week, demonstrating against money-changers, sacrificial dove sellers, and picketing the Temple Courts on two days running.

Cephas supported this ideal, obviously, and continued on offering Immersion in water for the Remission of sins.....for nothing.... especially for poor Jews.

here is more, but that's enough for now, I reckon....

May I point out that we do not "repent from false religion", we repent from sin. And we are told that "Almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission." <of sin.

There WAS no "false religion" in the Garden, yet Adam and Eve sinned, creating the NEED for repentance among all their descendants. Maybe we all could focus on that?

Just askin...
